MLK jr and Malcolm X were two powerful men who brought hope during the civil rights movement. They both preached the same word about having strength and power, even though so much hatred surrounded them. Even though they shared the same dream, they had different tactics to make these dreams a reality. I chose to write about these two men because they had a major role with changing the mindset of men and women and they helped people believe it is okay to stand up and fight for your rights and to not be afraid. Malcolm x was born Malcolm little on May 19,1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. Malcolm and his seven other siblings were born to louise, who was a homemaker, and Earl Little who was a preacher and a active member of the universal Negro Improvement association. The family was surrounded by harassment because the father was an activist. Earl little moved to wisconsin in 1926, then to Lansing Mi in 1928 to protect his family. Later on he found out that moving to Lansing was a bad decision because the racism was worse than living in Omaha. Their house was set on fire by a racist mob in 1929 and the towns emergency responders didnt do anything about, everyone just stood around the house to watch it burn down. Earl moved the family to East, lansing where he built them a new home. Two years later their father was found dead across the streetcar tracks. The family was left broke and they didn’t have food to eat to point there mother cooked the sunflower plants. Later on, there mother was sent to a insane asylum in 1939. The children were sent to foster homes to live with other family members.
