The Few the Proud the MarinesThe Few The Proud The MarinesBeing a Marine is one of the greatest honorable things a person can do with his or her life. The Marine Corps experience is like no other, “Being a Marine comes from the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor that is tattooed indelibly on the innermost being of those privileged to earn the title.” Moskin (15) Before my brother became a Marine, my dad was one as well. But when my brother joined, it changed my view on the military dramatically. I have great respect for the men and women that serve our country. In particular my dads and brothers experience made me interested in joining the Marines. I have come to realize that being a Marine isnt just about the paycheck its about having pride and serving our country and wearing the title as a Marine proudly.

I remember the first time I was asked to become a Marine. I was 12 years old when I enlisted. There were a lot of questions, “How did you want to become a Marine?” It wasn’t a choice, just an experience. Not being a Marine was a life changing opportunity and I felt it was wrong to be not ready. I made the decision to join the Marines just to make sure my fellow Marines received the right service and honor. For our friends, our loved ones and the Marines we serve we are truly grateful that they chose to serve our country. Our first deployment to Iraq was right under their nose, and we did nothing wrong. It was our right not to feel so alone in our service and to truly serve our country, not just a paycheck, but a lifetime. We will never be alone in serving the nation with the commitment to help. And that’s exactly what I did.

I think our Marines and military have always been a very inclusive force, that we are highly valued and respected members of the U.S. Armed Forces. As well as our military community we have a wonderful Army/Air Force, a Marine Corps, and a Air Force that have gone above and beyond to help out our servicemen and women who work so hard. Our community has helped us realize our responsibility to make this country even stronger.

So what is the best service that our military has to offer the general public? Many are not thinking critically about military things, and while some of us are actively participating in military projects, the rest are just a bunch of people trying to help us take the world’s attention away from us — and into something bigger in the long run. A military is not everything and we are just doing what we can as a company that truly helps our country and has the means to do so. We understand that there are many who care about our country and feel like we are a part of their community, but at the same time we value the hard time you get on Army or Air Force. Not every military needs to be 100% dedicated to their duty and serving every day you enlist. And for all of us who are still out there living our dream, I know what it means to join and to serve the country of the United States. I will always work hard for the future and for my family. And hopefully, for those who know me, I’ll always be there for them.

Our Veterans and the Army, both serve on the Hill of Honor for the past 5 years with honor and service families. The Marine Corps has been the backbone to this unit of veterans, veterans and all those who served their country. And we all salute your sacrifice and dedication to this service team. If there is one thing standing in the way for us all, this is it and this is it. The American people will choose to do any and all kind of service they can in our country again. So if you think that your military or your local service team is an opportunity for you and those around you to prove you are a proud member of your military family and that you

My brother was a different person before he joined the Marine Corps. I noticed his decision making was reckless. He started college on a basketball scholarship and in the beginning did well. But soon after he was going out and partying. During spring break he went behind my parents back to go to Mexico where he got drunk. On the way back home he and his two friends got into a very bad car accident. He says today about that time in his life that he didnt have much direction and didnt know what he wanted to do. “That type of thinking can only get you so far in life.”

During this period of time, I saw a huge change in my brothers attitude towards us as a family and me personally. Before the Marine Corps I called him my best friend and then he and I lost that close bond. I felt alone without my best friend who I told everything to. This turned out to be a very difficult time in my life.

My brother chose to join the Marine Corps to get the focus that he lacked in his life. He went to boot camp in May of 2008 at Parris Island, South Carolina. He says that while he was in the Marines it was a “love hate thing”. “I loved it because it made me who I am today, it has made me more focused, more disciplined in how I carry myself. There was hate because there was a loss of independence and spontaneity. One downside was that the government owns you once you sign on the dotted line but they still allowed me to be independent under strict guidelines.”

My dads experience in the Marine Corps was quite different than my brothers. Compared to my brother my father did not get the chance to experience college life like my brother did. My dad was only eighteen when he joined and my brother went in when he was twenty. Like my dad my brother was forced to live within the Marine Corps permaters for four years. My dad wanted to be an Air Force pilot out of high school and he wasnt given the opportunity
