Malay Special Rights
the special rights for the malays in malaysia has been widely discussed. despite the numerous efforts to enlighten the malays and non malay in malaysia of these special rights, this matter has been in the limelight all the time expecially during the upcoming of elections. many racists remarks are seen and heard to mark and challenge the special rights for the malaysia.

these privileges for the malays are clearly mentioned in the malaysian constitutions. it not supposed be dicussed as it a constitution already though whether they are still relevant now, is something which is subject to discussion.

This paper is intended to discuss the relevance of the special rights now in view of todays perception. Random interviews had been done among the malays aging 18 – 58 inquiring about their knowledge of their special rights and whether they think the rights are still relevant. 99% said the rights should be relevant but unfortunately they themselves do not know or understand their special rights.

Since the interview was done in the urban areas, the responses revealed that urbanites are not aware or do not realized the applicability of the rights. despite that they still insisted that the special rights are still relevant.

In view of that, more research should be done in the rural areas to acertain the similarity of the responses. should the similarity existed than a full research should be done to find out despite of their ignorance about the special rights why do they think the rights are still relevant now.
