Reflective Essay
Reflective Essay
Introduction
Self reflection is a significant implement as it aids in the growth of self realizing and learning ability. Writing reflective essays is a helpful tool in aiding my personal developments in digesting something that has happened, something new consider as an experience. The experience could also include dealing with difficult times, emotionally and practically or perhaps organizing goals. The main purpose of reflective writing is it requires metacognition, also known as the process of thinking about thinking. Flavell (1976) describe the term ‘metacognition as ‘metacognition refers to ones knowledge concerning ones own cognitive processes or anything related to them, e.g., the learning-relevant properties of information or data. For example, I am engaging in metacognition if I notice that I am having more trouble learning A and B; if it strikes me that I should double check C before accepting it as fact. (Flavell 1976, p.232) Reflective essays are personally based and easy to be understood by its reader. It means that we should be able to take a step back into further understanding the decision we made and its appropriateness before taking in further action.

My Experiences
First experience:
This week, I went to visit a friend at her university. Then we decided to go to a place known as ss24 for dinner. We hailed a taxi and before we board the cad, we questioned the driver whether he knew the way to getting to our destination. When the driver convinced that he knew the place, we boarded the cab and were on our way. However, after an hour had past, the driver sounded worried and confessed that he lost his way. Both of us were worry as well as we had passed by so many streets and still no sign of ss24. In the end, the driver stopped a passer-by to ask for directions. It was an old Chinese man and we were relieved because he knew ss24 and most importantly the way to get there. Finally, after much sign languages and exchange of information, our driver brought us safely to our destination.

Second Experience:
I celebrated my best friends birthday last month. Together, I and a few friends decided to throw in a surprise party for her. So, we went on preparing the essentials for the surprise party plan. Then we proceeded to developing our plan by getting ourselves to the supermarkets for some shopping for vegetables, meat, drinks etc. We also bought a cake of her favorite flavor. We were cautious not to let slip of our secret to her knowledge. Once we got back, we divide our responsibilities accordingly. One of us will be in charge of washing the vegetables; another will prepare the ingredients, while another will be the chef. It was a long day, and finally we were able to lay out the table. When we got the food and drinks readied, one of us called up the birthday girl and asked her to come into the room. When the main character opened the door, all of us burst into a birthday song and clapped as the song ended. My friend was dumb folded and her expression looks as if shes about to burst into tears. We know we moved her, although we were tired, we were glad about what we did.

Third Experience:
I read a book about complaints. It was about a big cat in a house that chases mice. It was a fast cat and was able to catch many of its peers as they come out to steal food from the house. Then one day, the mice call up a meeting to discuss about dealing their common enemy, the cat. Then, one little mouse came up with a great idea, it said: ‘why dont we tie a necklace with bells around the cats neck? That way whenever the cat is approaching, we will be notified by the sound of its bell. Then we will have time to run away. All the other mice agreed to the suggestion and were excited. But then an old wise mouse came up and spoke, ‘but who among us will go tie that bell around the cats neck? At that instant, all the other mice quiet down. No mice spoke. In the end, the mice still live in fear of the cat as they went out to look for food each night. The moral of the story taught me that most of the time, it was better to say than do.
