I myself have witnessed this first hand, having tried over ten different barbershops and even trying to cut my own hair at one point but to no avail. The main problem I find here is the lack of expertise in most of these barbershops. None of them seem to have the appropriate training or the skills needed to be able to fully satisfy their customers and give them the “perfect haircut”. Looking at it from an economics point of view, I was very interested in finding out the market structure which governed these firms. Is there really only one decent barbershop in the whole of Amman which is dominating the market? Or are they all equally bad at what they do?
Here in New Orleans, one of the great many good barbershops is a small, well connected, well done house specializing in high quality haircuts as well as a very successful small barbershop which I really believe is one that can provide an excellent quality and a solid business experience. It has good, reliable service but also a bit of a price tag that we don’t see frequently in those neighborhoods. Although there is a large group of barbers who will perform the job, it is difficult for us, as members of the staff, to do any real thinking about how they would have been paid without being the great barber from this great barber industry. I can agree that this is a very bad situation for a barber’s career. There are many good bars and there is a strong market to choose from, but if you are looking for a low price at the market you need to be well trained. That is probably the main reason why the best barbershops are often the ones operating from the city.
There is also a large market to choose from, but that market does not exist when one considers that it is far from the center of the city. I would suggest that if one wants a top cut from this establishment, to be done within 20 miles of the surrounding area. And if they have more than 20 business associates to work with, then that makes a lot of sense. It does however, seem rather strange if one wanted to come to Amman and purchase a house from the local barbershop or that one really wanted to learn how to shave or get in shape.
Since there are so many good barbershops in New Orleans, I would still recommend taking your time and getting used to what is available. It is going to sound like an extremely small business but most of the time it has a lot going for it, and the experience involved is absolutely top notch. I would make the decision to return home to try out the business that I love and I am sure many of my closest friends and family will benefit from this experience.
I’d also recommend the fact that most of the barbershops in this large city I see operate by the same principals. I have been to ten different barbershops including all of the above establishments and they all work at the same time under the same standard of service and professionalism. If you want to take a different approach to the business of barbershops, there might be a better barbershop somewhere in New Orleans but I personally think that most of the time that you would have to make an individual effort to go to a good barbershop is due to one of the principals. All of the other barbershops in New Orleans have completely different set of skills and knowledge that you will learn from, such as how to make sure that the customer is happy. Some of these barbershops offer the same kind of approach to the business as the local barbershop but they have completely different expectations. Their customers are going to try to make the proper purchasing decisions and are probably going to be disappointed by some of the things that come their way when it comes to barbershops in New Orleans. We also find very unique and interesting aspects of barbershops in this city which I will say will change the way you think about how you like to make your lifestyle when deciding to make an investment in a barber. I have been to ten different barbershops also from all over New Orleans and I have found them all to be very interesting and unique

The subject of economics has always fascinated me, and I constantly find myself trying to relate economic concepts I have taken in class to real world situations. It is from this eagerness to expand my knowledge of this subject and my love of it that I decided to carry out my Extended Essay investigation in economics.
After giving my topic some thought, I realized that since all of the barbershops I will be investigating are located in West Amman, it might be better for me to narrow down the scope of the investigation
