The reason the tent and the building in the background are so important is because that was where she slept. The building in the back was where she was first put after she was kidnapped. After she had her baby she stayed there for a little while. When she had her second child she moved to the building next door. Once the children got older she moved into the tent to provide more space. Jaycee moved between three different places but the one she stayed at for the longest time before she was found was the tent.

Jaycee the main character in the story was kidnapped at the age of 11. She has brown eyes and her hair color is a blonde. When she was taken she was full of life. Her favorite animal was cats. After she was taken all of that life and happiness was sucked out of her. Her main motive was to survive the next eighteen years of confinement and terror. Jaycee went through something that no little girl should go through when. We can only imagine what it would be like to be her. She was and is a brave and strong girl.

Phillip the villain in the story has blue eyes and gray hair. When he kidnaped Jaycee he had brown hair and was much younger. In fact he was 18 years younger. This man lived a double life if you had just met him you would never be able to tell that he had a deep dark secret. During the day he was a musician and owned a printing company. He looked like a normal man with a kind face, someone you would pass in the grocery store or on the street. What this man did to that poor little girl should never happen to anyone.
