Maghrebi Arabic is an Arabic dialect spoken in the Maghreb region. It’s also known as Western Arabic or Maghreb Darija. And the word Maghreb means “place where the sun sets”. Its continue to evolve by integrating new French words. They include Moroccan, Tunisian, Algerian and Libyan Arabic. The Arab Maghreb union was established in 1989 to promote partnership and assimilation among the Arab states of North Africa.

The Maghreb promoted a series that separate the area from the rest of Africa. And the geographic isolation of Maghreb caused to formation of an independent trade system that fix the population along economic lines. Maghreb was a powerful trading location for the Mediterranean region. Many of the valuable ports of the maghrib passed to Rome. Today the focus of popular rebellion for democracy and participation. Maghreb experiences a long period of colonization and anti-colonial nationalist struggle.

In the middle of the twentieth century, a wave of nationalism swept across the African continent that adopted European colonial powers to abandon their African occupation. Some in the Maghreb were not so greedy to abandon their position as a colony, as the French government often granted preference to their colonies in trade. Even with potential economic consequences of making it free, the movement gained strength, crowning in independence during the late 1950s and 1960s.

The Maghreb region first experienced religious unity under the rule of the Empire in the Pax Romana from 27 B.C.E. to 180 C.E. The Roman Empire domineering the region, a period of political stability was shown in that allowed individuals to practice religion without being threatened. Eventually, the Maghreb became a cultural and religious center where the new ideas of Christianity were discussed. Then the Christianity took control over Maghreb and they fake advertise a rich Christian culture.

Modern Standard Arabic is the language of print media, academia and religion. Religious services, newspapers, novels, university lectures or any other official means of communication are done in Modern Standard Arabic.
