Duty-based Ethics
Certain moral principles are binding regardless of the consequences.
The focus is on doing what is right.
Deontological
I believe people should be able to eat sand because eating sand is the right thing to do.
Verizon has a code of conduct that I must follow. If I get caught violating any rule in the code then that is cause for my dismissal.
Goal-based Ethics
Attention is focused on the results or consequences of the decision or action. What matters is the net balance of good consequences over bad.
Consequentialist
I believe people should be able to eat sand because it is good for their health.
Every employee has a lunch break that ranges from 30m to 1 hr. Verizon believes everyone should take advantage of this lunch break not only to eat but to walk away from your desk. This creates a healthier you and in turn an healthier work environment.
