Lindbergh Kidnapping Charles LindberghCharles Augustus Lindbergh was born on Feb. 4th 1902 in Detroid, Michigan. He died aged 72 in Maui, Hawaii on August 26th 1974 of lymphomia.He was an American author, inventor, explorer and social activist. He became world famous in 1927, when he flew from NY to Paris without stopping. Later he was awarded with the nation’s highest military decoration for his historic exploit. He also had strong political ideas and soon people started to want his money. On March 1st 1932 he and his wife Anne put their 20 months old son Charles Agustus Lindbergh Jr. into his crib, later that evening they wanted to check on him, but he wasn’t there anymore. He got kidnapped. Charles Lindbergh found a ransom note, demanding $50,000 which was a lot of money due to the bad economic time. Soon many newspapers reported about this crime and people were frightened. Lots of people started to go to Lindbergh’s house to help catching the kidnapper, but because they touched everything the evidence was destroyed.Soon they were frustrated with the police’s effort.  On May 12th 1932 they found the dead body of the toddler. He got killed because of a fractured skull. They all wanted to find the murderer and many people said it was a teacher or a relative. They started questioning a servant, who soon killed herself, which made her even more suspect, until they found evidence from a German called Bruno R. Hauptmann.
