Some students dislike school because its not “fun enough”. The teacher could have their own way of teaching and the students cant make a difference in school too. Leon Botstein wrote his own opinion piece called “Let Teenagers Try Adulthood” and Diane Ravitch wrote a book called “How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education”. They both show through their own writing piece how schools can improve and how students can be part of that.
In the article, “Let Teen-Agers Try Adulthood” by Leon Botstein, he discusses the overall need for improvement in American education. With the age of maturity in question, he suggests that after grade school, children should be sent to high school in order to graduate at 16. After graduating high school, they would go onto work that is done by hand or take technical training before moving onto get a higher education. In his opinion or argument, he states, “By the time those who graduate from high school go onto college and realize whats really at stake and becoming an adult to many opportunities have been lost and too much time has been wasted”.
Diane Ravitch in her book “How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education” has a section called On Her Favorite Teacher. Here she talks about how her English teacher never tolerates it foolishness or disruptions. She mentions all the characteristics about her teacher and how that made her into one of the students favorite teacher in the school. Every teacher has their own style on educating their own students.
Students need their education and it will help them get really good life in the future. If the schools and improve more in the way they communicate and educate with their students then it will be a great change.
