The Scarlet Pimpernel
The Scarlet Pimpernel was written by the author Baroness Orczy. This is a wonderful, courageous, adventurous, mysterious and romantic story of the Scarlet Pimpernel, the man who saved lots of lives. In the year 1792 on the borders of Paris, the Scarlet Pimpernel strikes again. His escape is simple since he dresses up as an old hag who has a brood of plague stricken people who is really the Comtesse and her two children.

While waiting In the kitchen at the fishermens rest Sally is preparing dinner for the Comtesse and her children who are soon to arrive. Later on Lord and Lady Blackeney shall arrive with Lady Blackeneys brother Armand, who is to sail to England to be part of the army. The Comtesse, her children and Sir Andrew Floukles arrive in a bustle, hungry and

exhausted of traveling from England to France.
While in the supper room Sir Andrew cant take his eyes off Suzanne de
Tournay who is the Comtesses daughter. When it comes time for Armand ST. Just to leave on Sir Percys yacht, the Day Dream, to France everybody leaves Marguerite and her brother alone so she can say her goodbye. While they are eating the Comtesse is feeling guilty because she and her children are safe but at that very moment her husband is probably fleeing for his life being hunted like dogs. Meanwhile an accredited agent is being sent from France to find the Scarlet Pimpernel. This agent is a friend of Marguerites named Chauvelin has a clever and quite curious personality with a fox-like expression. Chauvelin meets Marguerite after she sees her brother off to France outside the fishermens rest. After they talk for a while Chauvelin trys to talk Marguerite into doing some dirty work for him and she tells him flat out the answer is no. When Chauvelin learns her brother could get killed if she doesnt help him, she finally agrees to help.

The next event that Marguerite meets Chauvelin is Lord Grenviles ball. She reads a burned in half note that is from the Scarlet Pimpernel to Sir Andrew Foulkes that says,I will be in the dinning room at one oclock in the morning. When Chauvelin goes to spy, the only one in the dinning room was Sir Percy sleeping on a sofa.

Upon the Blackeneys return home, Marguerite talks to Percy and tells him everything about Armand getting captured and maybe sent to the guillotine. After there discussion, they both go to their chambers to sleep. Early in the morning Marguerite hears footsteps, as she gets out of bed

she sees somebody has slid a note under the door, the note read that Sir Percy was going on a
long business trip and he was leaving this very minute. Next thing you know she is running out the door and down the hall as fast as she could. When she finally finds Sir Percy, she asks if this trip is about Armand. Sir Percy finally gives in to her questioning and says yes.

Later that day Suzanne comes for a visit then Marguerite sends Suzanne home. Marguerite says she is not feeling well the real reason is she decides she must go rescue her husband and her brother. Chauvelin might know her husband is the Scarlet Pimpernel, therefore he might be waiting for Sir Percy on Frances border ready for arrest. First she goes to Sir Andrew and confesss she was with Chauvelin for awhile then begs him to help save her husband, he agrees. Next they set out to meet at the fishermens rest where they wait for a boat that will take them to Calais. Due to delays of a storm Marguerite worries they will fail, but Sir Andrew says
