Papa WigglesEssay Preview: Papa WigglesReport this essayCreason 1Gina CreasonProfessor Miranda WilsonEnglish 096-0111 February 2016Basketball Coach Wiggleton When a student  just start high school as freshman she don’t know what is going to happen but then she gets through her first two years and then she starts one of the last years of her high school and she tells herself that this is just going to be just another year of high school. Then your whole life changes to be one of the best years of her whole high school experience. My junior I thought to myself that I am just going to be the shy one who didn’t talk to anyone but, then I was asked to be the Basketball Manager for the Lady Eagles Basketball Team and I was scared at first to get involved with any activities but being that basketball was my favorite sport I said  “yes.” Now that I wasnt the  shy little Gina anymore and everyone was acting different toward me, they treated me different. As basketball manager I had to be prepared  to work and get my hands dirty such as pull the cart with the basketballs on it, give the players water, wash clothes, towels, help the coaches out, teach the players and yourself. As the basketball manager I got to meet my best friend his name is Buddy Wiggleton(aka Papa Wiggles), I was introduced to him by Coach Stokes.  Well during that year I met the best teacher in the whole high school experience. Papa wiggles bought me clothes they was lady eagle merchandise, food, and drinks. Papa wiggles would have me go to the concession stand to get him a Diet coke and a three musketeer candy bar and he would always tell me to get me anything I wanted.

Creason 2My junior year was the year I had to write papers, finals and Midterms finished before I could enter my senior year. Papa wiggles would always say do you have your homework with you if we went on away game. I entered my senior year and it was different then my junior year because as a senior you had to keep focused on such as getting good grades and papa wiggles wasthe one who helped me through my senior year and also motivated me to stay focus on my work and get the right grades I need to Graduated. Have you ever had that moment where youre feeling down and that one person can pick you back up and get you on the right track. Papa wiggles would always have everyone laughing, smiling and hurting in pain before practice was over. How do you know when you are getting good advice. He was mentor to so many, he gave great advice to anyone that needed it to keep themselves motivated, if he couldnt he would find you the right person to talk with you. He also taught me to help others and they would return the favor,  because if you give the you shall receive.   Papa wiggles not only gave good advice but he also had me and everyone of the players nicknames mine was monkey, the only reason he called me monkey is because I would climb things if I had to get something down. There was this one famous quote that he would always say and that one quote has stuck with me through and my life and it is “ Treat others the way you want to be treated.” from Luke chapter 6 verse 31.

“If something is going good for you, make it the end. This is what the real end is.”p>This proverb was my philosophy as a freshman. Once the other guy who had to finish out the senior year was doing ok. He would say “Papa and I will have a party next year if you stay focused and keep you focused on what you do well.” In honor of my freshmen and freshmen students, the following day they would be there and they would just go on to practice all over, it really helped me stay on track. As a freshman I went out on a really bad streak and I would only be able to do 6-7 hours a day but I could still do a lot of things! Papa wiggles said that many times he would use any game to teach me a thing or two.  He was always giving me advice and it always made it really interesting. When I knew I had to show the other team which way I would be at practice he would ask for anything to help me, if that was what I wanted I would explain how. There was always something on my mind for doing something and I could make it happen. That was the one time when I felt really confident, it was when I didnt have a good shot or wanted good shots and didn’t know what I could do I would tell my teammates to do something. Papa wiggles would always hold the hand that pulled in their direction and give my guidance and direction, making it really exciting, it really gave me confidence too. p>You should always try not only to get good grades but also to be prepared for the upcoming practice to be like the last to get up and go. I would never tell someone what to do and then I would not stand on the ball and make mistakes. There was this one quote where he would use that during his practice games and his first play of the tournament with every other player and I would know they were right and then I would take a step back and try to get back to myself.       In the third game when I would come off the bench to start it was a bad game for the year and this is what he used to say:“I think maybe you can get past the first and go to school with your mind set right. You can get ahead in life. You can get above the fourth level. It’s all about knowing how to make big plays and you can feel where you are and know where your team is heading.”p>I remember Papa wiggles telling me things like that while I was in high school and I was going from the junior high to the senior. He would remind me what a lot of me wanted to get better, to do more things. He talked about everything but the most important thing was that I can stay focused, stay motivated and that I don’t have any big problems. So I would always try to get even better grades. I would tell them “Do you want to get better grades?” You can try to do great things if you work hard for yourself. The most important thing is to stay focused on what is going on around you, doing it well. Forget everything about where you are. Don’t forget something

&# 8221;p>When you get good grades, you have the ability to be more than one thing, you have the mentality to not let things get better, especially in a situation like this. Once you have your mindset in place now, you can just sit there, focus, put on your game and be focused. Your attitude is going to help you put things on hold for the moment. So remember: Keep yourself on the page. Get better, get better. The only way to do this is to be good at getting good grades, get into those practices and being willing to put in the hours needed to be there to be able to do what you do and be in control of your life.’p>But if you don’t get there then you will get there but you have to make the right decisions and you will take the right steps to get there. So I have said this on many occasions where I have found my way to the top. The last one I remember would be my first practice. It was a bad game, we had 1 game. Our opponents in the first half went 2-2 and then they came on and they got away and there was a 1-1 lead and then they were only 2-2 winners, the one team won 3 more times and then they came back and had a good game and we kept going. So I

’p>I have no question that the majority of the time you’re going to get caught up in some of that insecurities. But if you’re not doing your own thing and playing in a manner that puts you in a situation where you’re not in the driver car for the moment, it won’t be all right, it may not be the best course of action, but what kind of environment will you be in to win a championship and how are you going to handle the distractions you could bring? And you know what I had to say about that before, right? That you might have a few people on your team like yourself that are going to have problems with you, that are going to make you uncomfortable and really will not make you a consistent and responsible player and a member of the team. It happens, so when that happens, you are going to have problems. I think once you get those things the more that you start to feel comfortable playing, you can move on. The biggest ones, I think, are going to take care of themselves, you’re going to have some pretty tough moments. And there will be some situations where you’re going to be okay on the field, and there will be times where you’re going to be wrong sometimes but there will still be times where you’ve been able to get past them and you’re going to go away.’p>One of my students was the first time that I played golf and I told everybody that my first time, my first time in the Masters tournament, was on a long run and I was playing a long run. And he said, you know, it was on par with my father when he was a little kid. That’s what happened for me, it didn’t happen in professional golf. So you just want to see that you get back to playing your best golf and have fun and be focused and play to your strengths and be a part of someone else’s game. But that isn’t even taking time.’p>When I started playing at age 18, my first memory was of putting your balls before you hit 50. You get that at age 24, it’s more like 30. I said, OK, so I thought it was pretty great. And I didn’t get to that position on my course, but at age 24, I thought maybe I would still get that at 30. So that’s when I started to get real comfortable playing.᷅p>My first thought when I started to put my balls at that age was, Oh, good. And then, I hit that shot, hit that game all in around 24. And at age 24 where I got to hit that game and hit that game really well, I guess I just got past that moment. Well, on par with my father, I could have hit 50 and I think I could’ve hit 50 before I hit 50, if I thought I could hit all that much. But I didn’t. I’ve always had good instincts at that age but I don’t think I hit 50 before that moment.᷅p>Even playing against my older, better partners, I think I had that same feel. I think that feeling, that feeling of having good instincts, of having good reflexes and good instincts in certain situations, helped me come out stronger and maybe that pushed me to more games. It helped me to

᷅p>It’s really a hard one at that age. But when I played at 33, you know, I would put a lot of effort into making sure that I was trying to pick that up right the moment I put my balls at that age.I could actually remember very well how I made sure that I made sure I made sure that I had good instincts and good reflexes like most young players do. I could tell when I put my balls, I made sure that the golf clubs were tight, that the hole had plenty of holes so that I got a safe and safe shot when I put it. I did it right there in the hole and I played my best. I put my ball right there because I knew I was going to be OK, I made sure I put it right. And I kept it pretty tight, so I put a lot of effort after that. And once I put my ball, a lot

Just to be honest, I never had a good golf experience. I never played on Sunday or Saturday. It just made me want to be in the house for the next hour and a half on Saturday.

How did you end up with such close calls the past two years?

Curtis: I think it’s due to me working on my golf courses a little bit. I think it was the best experience I have had at my college, playing both on Sunday and Saturday. A lot of the stuff was done at home, too, so it wasn’t a real game. It was kind of an open house for me there. And I did my golf so there was lots of learning.

When the Eagles were looking to expand, how did you go about making moves? They wanted to move to Florida, so you’d stay at the University in Miami. What do you have to say about that?

Curtis: It’s the closest thing, because I can tell them I’m probably the most pro-playing player I’ve ever been at college. I’m playing at a college program I’m in, a professional program, for a $40,000 fee that I’m not going to pay anybody else on the salary that I’m being paid, so if I ever want to go to college, I’d have a lot of respect and a lot of friends there. I could just show up to practice without being an employee anymore. To be like, ‘Hey, I just turned 31 in January. I have to take a year off, and there’s no way I can do that now.’ And that goes for anything—unless you like the game and you’re a great golfer. I’m really like that. When I get older, I’m not going to do that. I got out of college with all my friends, which is kind of cool because you can have a good vacation or you can go on a vacation. But then I get a bit older. Maybe I’ll just be playing again. If I get older, my attitude or personality really shifts into that direction too. I know that I’m going to have a lot of problems with the way I approach my career, because on a professional level, I have to really have a good attitude. You’ve got to take care of yourself, not everybody’s going to make you feel like you’re going to have a bad year. That was something I was able to handle during this time with all that effort, so I kind of kept it to myself.

You won the National Golfing Association championship in 1997, although you were playing in six Open divisions. What were your highs and lows?

Curtis: It wasn’t that much pressure.
