When I was younger my mom always said, “You have to make something of your life. Don’t settle like I did.” So with that in mind I have always tried to be the best I could be. I have worked hard in school ever since I can remember. I want to do something with my life, and make something out of my life.

Being a member of the National Honor Society would be an honor itself. To be a NHS member shows all of my peers that I care about my school, and I care about my town. I strive hard to get the grades I get, and to be a NHS member would be like my trophy for my hard work.

“Scholarship is much more than just getting straight As. It is a life-long love of learning.”-Melissa Kelly. I love to learn, I feel as if to be ignorant would be one of the worst things. Grades are so important to me; they are the things that most colleges look at, and your career basically depends on that. I have always been on the honor role with a GPA of about 3.8, and it has been so gratifying.

I feel that I am a leader even though I have no real leadership position, because to be a leader is to stand up and fight for what you believe in, no matter what people say. To be a leader is to have a vision, a vision of what you want to make happen. I feel that I posses the ability to stand up for what is right and visualize how to do it.

Community service is so important in our community. To help someone in their time of need, and not expect something back is truly one of the greatest things you can ever do in your life. No matter if you are helping a little old lady cross the street, or single-handedly saving someone’s life. It all matters.

Last summer when I was helping teach little kids how to swim, it was so fun; because just looking at those little kids face as they mastered the doggie paddle was priceless. I don’t think that I would trade that for the world. To be honest
