Nourishment: The one I Feed
Essay title: Nourishment: The one I Feed
I have a little food for thought today
And am happy to be here to share it with you
So Relax
& Imagine this….
You’re Tom Hanks, & your best friend is a volleyball.
No, wait, you’re stranded on a deserted island.
Can you feel the sun? hear the waves?
More than likely, eventually, you’ll start looking for something to drink & eat.
Our basic instinct of survival tells us we need nourishment
So before I go any further, let’s define nourishment.
Webster’s says to make grow, to keep alive & well with food
Seemed to me, food was an afterthought
Wikipedia said:
1.to give substances required to live, grow or remain fit & healthy
2.to encourage or strengthen a feeling or idea
3.to help someone/something grow or develop
We know that eating is an important part of life.
So we do it every day.
Have you ever heard the saying man can not live on bread alone?
So then what other ways do we nourish ourselves?
Some of us go to church
Our faith is a source of nourishment
Some of us play outside
The sun & fresh air is a source of nourishment
Some of us spend time with family & friends
They believe in us! & that’s a source of nourishment.
Our children, we nourish them, then they nourish us.
Some of us exercise, or do yoga, we sew, or bead, or cross stitch,
Or we have pets, or vegetable gardens
Or we learn something new!!
In a nut shell:
The things we eat nourish us.
The things we do nourish us
The people we spend time with nourish us
For example, last June Mr. Enochs & I took 11 teenagers to the boundary waters in northern Minnesota.
there are no motors allowed. It keeps everything so pristine. We canoed, & camped out for a week.
The kids caught fish, that were eaten, & the water
