Is America in Moral Decline
As much as I hate to admit it, I do believe that morality has been placed on the back burner. ON the other hand morality in the country is improved. Prime example in my opinion is the decrease in teen pregnancy. I would be naïve to believe that abstinence is the focal point in that but it is actually easier access to contraception (i.e. condoms or birth control pills).

I believe that Americas morality is on the decline. America has always been seen as a moral country but now the society in America has changed drastically.

In the past some things that seemed unacceptable to be shown on television now widespread on any channel that you turn to it is deemed now acceptable that was not 40 years ago. The show on television now would never be broadcasted in the 40s or the 50s.

Some of these changes include the increases in the illegitimate birth and divorce rates.
Illegitimacy was once seen as embarrassing in America, but now it seems like the norm. The rate of illegitimate births in America went from 5 percent in 1960 to 32 percent in 1992. Because of this, there are so many children who do not know their biological father.

Another problem I see as moral decline is something that has been around for hundreds if not thousands of years and that thing is racism.
The fight against racism alone would have been a significant moral victory if that is all that came from the 60s social revolutions. African-Americans had grown tired of being told they were equal citizens in an America that treated them worse than second-class citizens. A racial revolution led by civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr. bravely fought to gain increased social respect and public access for people of color nationwide. That is clearly an example of moral progress, not moral decline. Liberals and conservatives sided together to support this move toward positive social change. In the last decade I believe the so called civil rights activists have cross the thin red line and started demeaning the Caucasian race. They call it reverse racism, because of the whites hated the African Americans first, Im sorry, but doesnt that kind of sound like a childish way of resolving a problem by the “he hit me first” mentality. We are all grownups and it is time to let the history be just that, HISTORY!!!.
