As we can see Macbeth demonstrates several traits of ambition which eventually lead to his demise; but it is not just his ambition which leads to his downfall; but rather the ambition of his love and wife, Lady Macbeth. In this play, the character Macbeth, and his wife lady Macbeth commit crimes against their kingdom which causes them both to experience rightful downfalls. Lady Macbeth is the main reason for Macbeths downfall due to her thirst for power and inhumane cruelty. The reason for Macbeths death is mainly caused by his wife who persuades him in killing the present king Duncan. She is also a vital cause for Macbeths madness in the end, for she is dearly loved by him, and when she committed suicide, the distortion caused was unbearable to be dealt with. When analyzing the characters Macbeth and Lady Macbeth one comes to realize how closely connected they are. They both are some of the smartest and most cunning people of their time. At the start of the play we are introduced to Macbeth who is sought out to be loyal, kind, brave and will do anything for his country without hesitation or fear. Unfortunately, these traits start descending as soon as Lady Macbeth starts becoming involved with his thoughts. At the beginning of the play Macbeth meets with three witches who end up telling him a prophecy in which he will become Thane of Cawdor, and eventually king. When Lady Macbeth hears of these prophecies through a letter she immediately becomes intrigued.
