I have had some criticism of labor unions recently. The union and its members do a good job of explaining their rights and responsibilities, but they cannot do a fair job explaining their own rights and responsibilities. The problem, of course, is that workers are not informed or even aware that the labor union is there. If they do not get to talk about their rights and responsibilities, they do not get to discuss them. I mean, look, why does the union have to put up with such a bunch of bullshit from our people when the organization they speak for, the one that they claim they represent, is here and it seems so obvious? I’d rather have my life represented by people with a lot more to gain. The fact that the union is there, is the fault the union members are getting. I was told that this union was in fact hired for an agenda.

This is one less topic. They have made it to the discussion section, but it is too obvious. If one of the “real-life” workers who work at an organization is actually employed by a union they do not work for, should they be allowed to have their day on and talk about their rights and responsibilities? Surely every employee has both an agency and a duty. Is there a duty to talk about all of this and discuss it, or should they be given a fair chance of making an honest and informed decision? Allowing them to say otherwise has caused a great deal of confusion. The only exception where this issue can be put to rest is the situation of the union that had to choose to “go through” with the bargaining at this moment (like the one I mentioned). That is to say that this is not one of them. While it is impossible in all cases, you can look at this as being one more instance where you can say, how do you act when something doesn’t go with the grain of your own faith? -Anonymous 19:41, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

If the union will go through with the bargaining, then there is nothing wrong with allowing them to negotiate. But that is not how this is different: you would want to “let the bargaining get done” before using a bargaining tool. This is what has been going on all along: no one should get into this issue. If unions are made “free-market” with little or no input you would be on your side and you are no more willing and able to negotiate with them than a bank. So let them go. I don’t know what its intentions and intentions are. I have been informed by a number of people that there is no union. I was told for most of this post that there are some people who believe that the unions should be removed. I was told that the union is a force for good that keeps all those who do not share union ideals going. How would that change? Why is this union not helping other organizations to make their living as unions?

What do I do? What do I do to make them better?

First, to talk honestly about labor and the way politics works. I started writing this essay from a very different perspective.

A first step in building a positive and growing community is to build a supportive work environment where workers can get to know each other’s issues and contribute and build a positive relationship. A workplace that’s welcoming and supportive is a place for those who want to stay together and share information and ideas.

You want to build community with your co-workers because they need to feel supported. So that you feel as if a community is there rather than just one, there’s a sense of community between the workers and the bosses and everyone feels great together too. I don’t mean that in a bad way. I mean, I want everyone to feel that way to a degree. A work environment that is comfortable, inclusive, has something to offer people and all is well. Everyone is welcome there.

The idea that the whole world will be a better place because of a union, no matter what, just doesn’t hold up to that scrutiny in practice.

It’s important to remember that we live in a culture of uncertainty, insecurity, and resentment. On one hand, we’re all insecure that we’re going to be able to do much better; on the other hand, we’d much rather be insecure but not worried about people or what we get. People who are insecure are going to feel more insecure and resentful. So that they’re just going to feel better and more secure and have a great life.

Another idea that makes sense to me, is that working from home doesn’t make you a better worker either. Workplaces should be community, not private. If you have a friend of a different

Most labor unions claim a right of exclusivity. The labor union has the authority to determine who may be a member of the union and who may not. Most unions assert a right to mandate that only its members may be permitted to work at certain jobs.
