I always said that Id be a rock star if I wasnt so shy. I will admit that my music taste is pretty male dominated so I would love to explore female musicians in my favorite genre and the comparisons between the sound, lyrics, and reception between the 1970s punk girls to what is around today as well as who influenced who and how. Ive also found many articles on this topic thanks to the ESC Subject Guide/EBSCOhost.Another topic I would be interested in writing about would be the work of a particular female movie director, writer, or producer. I liked the idea of this because I could devote my time into a single persons struggles and accomplishments. It was difficult to choose between just one so I decided that Ida Lupino would be a very good person to write about considering that a woman directing/writing/producing films in the 1950s seems like the perfect topic to cover. For my last topic I chose the Femme Fatale since like the women in the punk era vs modern rock, it would be interesting to compare how the character was portrayed earlier in film to how they are now. I recently watched a documentary called Miss Representation which slightly touched on the subject and it explained that the early Femme Fatale was a much more complex character than they are portrayed now which is something I never really thought too much about until now.Works CitedSiebel Newsom, Jennifer. “Miss Representation.” Documentary. 2011Links for Punk Women vs Modern Rock:1.) 12.) 3.) 4.) 5.)
