I intend to concentrate on the issues of stress inside organizational behavior. How it is managed, it is possible that stress is able to be positive as well as negative. At the same time when stress is not identified and managed correctly stress can become a very serious problem. From here on out, I will not simply define what stress is, I will also describe several causes of stress this paper. According to the textbook, stress is “tension from extraordinary requirements, constraints, or opportunities” (Schermehorn, Osborn, Uhl-Bien, Hunt, 2012).  “A condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demand exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize” (Schermehorn, Osborn, Uhl-Bien, Hunt, 2012).  As we face life experiences, we can see that stress has the ability both positive and negative.  As a result, stress was characterized to be a negative issue, causing the positive effects to be ignored.  In spite of the negativity, stress has the ability to be helpful and valuableAccording to Doctor Mark Zuccolo, “stress is categorized into physical and psychological principals.  There are four sources of stress: atmosphere, social, physiological, and cognitive-emotional.According to the textbook, an examination that was conducted found “43% of men and 34% women reported that they worked more hours than they wanted to” (Schermehorn, Osborn, Uhl-Bien, Hunt, 2012).  As stated previously. Stressors can come from many sources; this holds true in the workplace as well.          “A less obvious, though important source of stress for people at work is the spillover effect that results when forces in their personal lives affect them at work” (Schermehorn, Osborn, Uhl-Bien, Hunt, 2012).  Eustress is “a stress that has a positive impact on both attitudes and performance. Distress is a negative impact on both attitudes and performance” (Schermehorn, Osborn, Uhl-Bien, Hunt, 2012).  Organizations can avoid problems of toxic workplace by building positive atmosphere and making recognizable contribution in their employees.  Pheffer says: “All that separates you from your competitors are the skills, knowledge, commitment, and abilities of the people who work for you.  Organizations that treat people right will get high returns.”
