The current IP version being used today is IPv4. IPv4 is a way in which the computer provides source and destination addressing in a network. Its job is to route for the TCP/IP suite. In this version of IP, there is no method for ensuring that data is delivered to the destination. The newer version, IPv6, has several differences that will improve the current processes. First, one of the major problems with IPv4 is that there arent enough addresses. Instead of being made up of a 32bit address like IPv4, IPv6 is made up of 128bits. This will increase the number of addresses by nearly 4 million. The new version also includes IPSec that was an addon in the IPv4 version. IPSec is an authentication and security measure. Another new security measure tool is a traffic classifier. This will allow Internet data to be identified and redirected if necessary based on the security settings. There will be an auto-configuration setting available in the IPv6 so it wont be necessary to assign the IP address or determine the subnet mask. There are two auto-configuring types available in the new IP version. The first is stateless; which is when the computer boots up
