University Letter
Universität Regensburg To whom it may concern. My name is Ana Fernanda Flores Gonzalez; I am a student in the Bachelor of Sociology degree at the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes. Below I will outline the reasons why I am interested in doing an academic exchange, and why Universität Regensburg is my suited for this experience. Since my childhood I have been invested in understanding the social and political problems taking place in my country, Mexico. The same question is foundational to my research, how does a society as complex as Mexico work? Studying sociology enables me to have both a broader and deeper understanding of Mexican society and how its various cultural groups emerged and interact. Paired with this information, I have begun unraveling the sociopolitical structures of Mexican society, and ultimately finding myself closer to answering my question.

I believe firmly that through education and the intimate knowledge of other cultures, I will be able to better analyze where we are as a society, and more importantly, where we are going. With this knowledge generated, I can inform and propose more efficient contextualized solutions to the social problems we currently face. In sum, Universität Regensburg has built a reputation for it’s intercultural approaches, hosting roughly 1,400 international students. Learning amongst such diversity would be an invaluable asset to my academic formation, as I believe this to be a necessary component to better understand my domestic reality. Engaging with a multiplicity of perspectives will provide me with new and innovative vantage points to recontextualize Mexican sociocultural issues, and in the process, develop what I hope to be proactive solutions.Kind regards         Ana Fernanda Flores González
