Abellera, Jr., Wilfredo S. Senadrin, Edmar T. ViloriaKEYWORDS:Internet – a means of interconnecting computers including smart phones and televisions anywhere in the world via a dedicated routers or service providers.ISP or Internet Service Provider – a company that provides or services a subscriber with internet connectivity.NPC or National Power Corporation – government owned and controlled corporation mandated to perform missionary electrification or powering the farthest islands in the archipelago thru its Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG0, watershed and dams management in support of power generation and operations and maintenance of the Agus and Pulangi Hydropower Complexes in Mindanao.Price – cost of internet subscriptionSpeed – accessibility and processing rate of internet connectionPreference – choice selectionISP Broker – provides the quotes, requirements and other information the subscriber needs and the best solutions possible.ABSTRACTWith so many ISPs and related options in the Philippines, how do the people in NPC will go about choosing the one that is right for them? Relatively, the preference for ISP selection is to meeting the customers need and satisfaction in terms of “Price or Affordability of Internet Subscription” and “Internet Speed and Reliability”.NPC employees may consider cost efficiency but conceivably still prefer internet speed and reliability first. The hypothesis of favouring internet speed and reliability over price can be proven in this study wherein the ISP preference of NPC employees will be used as basis in establishing an ISP brokerage business. The study is limited to NPC employees only and focuses on the current ISP subscription, whether digital subscriber line (DSL) or broadband, in their respective home within four (4) years or more, and the possible preferred ISP in case they opt to subscribe or switch to other provider.  Results or derived information from gathered data through online survey will be the tool for the authors to come out with analysis that must be explicitly interpreted and described.Based on the survey results, the Top 3 current ISP of NPC employees are Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT), Globe Telecom and Sky Cable Corporation. While the preferred ISPs in case they choose to subscribe or change to other provider are PLDT, followed by Sky Cable Corporation, then Converge ICT Solutions.CHAPTER IINTRODUCTIONBACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:The Internet, whether wired or wireless, revolutionized the communications industry through its world-wide interconnection capability that can be used for broadcasting or information dissemination and a medium for collaboration and interaction between individuals using computers or smart cellular phones. Information, text, graphics, music, videos, services etc. can be accessed, utilized according to its purpose and shared through the Internet using application programs, search engines or browsers without regard on geographic location.

Internet Service Provider (ISP) plays a major role in the internet industry particularly in the Philippines. The business contributes significant returns to the economy locally and has grown tremendously creating new job and opportunities. Nowadays, it is hard to imagine life without the Internet since people’s activities are progressively becoming computer or cellular phone related being dependent on internet.  However, satisfaction in using the internet in terms of price and speed must be considered.Internet is associated with an ISP. In the Philippines, small numbers of large firms dominate or control the industry making the business oligopolistic. But despite the situation, this does not deprive the establishment of a new ISP brokerage business using “Blue Ocean Strategy” by taking advantage of the circumstance to market the preferred ISP of NPC employees based on survey results and analysis.REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE:The Internet today is a widespread information infrastructure, the initial prototype of what is often called the National (or Global or Galactic) Information Infrastructure. Its history is complex and involves many aspects – technological, organizational, and social. Its influence reaches not only to the technical fields of computer communications but throughout society as we move towards increasing use of online tools to accomplish electronic commerce, information acquisition, and community operations. From the “Choosing The Best Internet Service Provider In The Philippines For 2017” article posted in iMoney Learning Centre, Phil. PLDT is the top ISP in the country. The company provides internet service reliability for having the largest area coverage for home or business packages in terms of fiber, DSL, or LTE (long-term evolution) broadband connection. Globe Telecom, on the other hand, is one of the largest mobile telecom providers in the country, offering home or business internet solutions in a variety of plans suitable for work or leisure. Lastly, Sky Cable Corporation is the Leading cable TV provider that offers broadband internet connection which is promoted as “Sky Broadband”.  It is conveniently bundled with their HD cable TV subscription.CHAPTER IIFRAMEWORK AND METHODOLOGYThis chapter discusses the framework and methodology used in the study   The framework includes the marketing state of ISP and business possibilities, while the methodology refers to the means of collecting, measuring and analyzing data for the study.FRAMEWORK:This covers the competition among existing market players in the ISP industry using some of the Porters Five Forces Analysis Framework, to wit:1.    Bargaining Power of the BuyersGenerally the respondents have little or nothing to say about ISP charges since existing market players, particularly the large telecom companies, offer competitive prices for internet services. Though the bargaining power of the buyers is low in terms of price, other factors like speed of internet connection, no connection fees and bundling of services are considered in the study in order to identify the respondents’ level of satisfaction in their existing ISPs and in switching to or choosing new ISP.
