Describe the differences between IT and information systems.
The main differences between Information system (IS) and Information technology (IT) is that IT is more technical oriented while IS is more business oriented.

IT focuses on selection, integration and deployment of computing technology which consist of planning networking infrastructure and building up the information database. In general, Information technology (IT) is a branch of engineering dealing with the use of computers and telecommunications equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data.

On the other hand, IS focuses on the applications and implication of computing which requires sufficient business skills to interpret the information provided by IT. IS coordinates organization, management and technology in favor of supporting decision making and controlling process.

In summary, IT can be considered as a subset of IS and IS is in essence bridging the gap between business and the ever growing field of computers.
