Culture Essay
English 10 1st period
My culture isnt so much original. It is kind of normal, like others who live in delta. I was born and raised here. Ive grown up around farming, and that is how Ive become who I am. It has taught me to become a hard worker. But, I also am who I am today because of my parents. My mom had a very rough childhood. Her mother was a drunk, and used to beat her late at night while her dad was a work, trying to support the family. My mom is the youngest of 7 siblings. She had to basically take care of herself once all her siblings moved when she about 5 years old. After 9 years of going to bed at night, stomach aching from hunger, and cold without a blanket or bed to warm her, her father heard about the Indian Placement program the church had. This program let young Natives go live with a family until they were 18 and graduated. My grandpa decided it would be best for her to leave and go into the program. She moved in with her now adoptive parents, Mike and Caroline Palmer. They raised her from the time she was 14, and they changed her life forever. My mom is one of the most important people in my life. She has taught me to be thankful for everything I have and have respect for everyone.

My dad taught me to work hard at everything I do. He has also taught me everything I know about Softball. It has become my passion throughout the years. Ive been playing the game for as long as I can remember. It has given me so much to look forward to, and to dream about. I am a pitcher and I work so hard to be the best. My aspiration is to play college softball, win an NCAA World Series championship, help get Softball back into the Olympics and win the gold. My dad pushed me every day to make my dreams come true. I am so thankful to have him as my dad and everything he does for me and to make my dreams come true.

My friends have made me who I am today by being there for me. I have always had someone to go to when I couldnt talk to my parents. Theyve shown me to choose the right. My best friend since the day we were born introduced me to the gospel. It has had such an impact on my life that I cant even express in words. I now know that I will return to my Heavenly Father someday and live with him again. It is so great to know that, and such a relief to be assured that death is not as scary as some people make it seem.

Lastly, one of the most inspiring people in my life is John Winfree. He graduated from White River Academy here in delta. His story has changed my life since the day I met him. He went to WRA at the age of 13 and stayed there until he was 17. Back before he was sent here, he burned down innocent peoples
