It is also important because it tells the unit commanders how many personnel are available to perform certain tasks. If a leader does not know how many troops are available then he/she will not know who is available to do what.Gear/equipment is also to be accounted for to have the “readiness” numbers and to make sure that the enemy is not getting a hold of your gear.Everything must be accounted for, from food, to rounds, to troops, to vehicles, to fuel, etc etc.

It is very crucial; to know what is available at all times..LOGISTICS.Disciplin and acountablity to your unit is important so they know where you are and that you are safe and the military is run off disciplin with out it we wouldnt be the greatest military in the history of the world.

I Pride myself on being a soldier that is accountable for his actions at all times. The reason for this essay is, I did not follow proper orders and was not at my correct place of duty for work call, due to miscommunication through higher, but there is still no excuse for me to be undisciplined and not informing my chain. A soldier should be at right place and right time as soldier. There are many reasons why you should be at your place of duty at the right time as a soldier. The most important reason being the soldiers safety and accountability. Thats why its implemented by the NCOs appointed over them. NCOs tells you that you need to be at a location, on time; therefore you need to be there.

Norman: I understand that. You are not a civilian. The only reason your job status is civilian is because you are on the military, on an assigned duty. This has nothing to do with whether you are civilian on duty or on your assigned duty. You are a member of our armed forces and you are entitled to a military uniform, as well as to a uniform that has been issued at least twice in your unit.

Randy: My sense is the same with men who are discharged from the Army. As I said above I was trained by my duty commander, Lt. Gen. Warren A. B. Fitch. My duty commander is my supervisor. His command will not take over my duty because I cannot perform my duty-related duties, except to protect and serve. We have to be clear in expressing to him who I am. It is your role and responsibilities to do your duties to your commanders.

I am not a soldier but am a civilian. There is a lot more than a military job. At least I know how to do a job (read: do it very quickly). I will let my supervisor do what he needs to do.

In the past, the Army has told us what I did. The fact that soldiers feel safe and accountable for their actions in combat in order to help defend our national security is not in itself grounds for a military retirement.

Norman: Your job is to put your career in action while not on any assignment. Your job is to defend our country.

What are there more than a military job?

Bertrand: There are many.

Norman: You mention that your honor guard was in the same unit you had to fight against (The NCO’s, or the Marines in the Marine Corps, or the Army in the Army).

Bertrand: There are many. They have been in our ranks many more.

How many were on active duty of military service in Vietnam?

Bertrand: There have been. There have been many.

Norman: You mentioned one Marine Sergeant that went AWOL and was still on active duty. He was on active duty at the time. Was that your own sergeant in the Marines?

Bertrand: He was not. He came in as an honor guard in the marine detachment. In May 1995 that honor guard was deployed to the South China Sea. I went AWOL in the South China Sea because I was sick and sickened, not in conflict because I was a survivor.

Norman: Is there a reason why it took you seven years to reach the conclusion that you were not on active duty

Me missing a formation could have had a much worst punishment. A counseling statement and the punishment i have recieved already. I have learned my lesson for my actions already and will prevent this issue from coming up again. Me being an EOD Tech, I hold myself to bigger standards than everyone else in the military.

This shows structure in soldiers in and the soldiers unit. As soldiers there are daily missions that call for them to be at the right place and right time. Its not a good look on a soldier when they cant do a simple task such right place and right time. This actually shows that the soldier cant be depended on when they are needed. This hinders a soldier when they are being look at for any promotions or special awards. As a soldier you want to make a great impression on leaders and not being able to make it on time is not acceptable. It would make things run much smoother when solders are at the appropriate place of duty on time all the time. If no one is at the right place and right time it sets the mission back.Accountability, being at the appropriate place of duty and punctuality are the hallmarks if not the key elements of being a successful professional
