The Impact of Video Games on Children and Young Adults
How do video games can take control of the childrens and young adults minds? Many people think that playing a violent game doesnt affect the minds of a human being, because they simply think that its JUST a game, something that its not real and that it doesnt cause any harm at all, but the reality is more serious than what people think. When youth view violence in video games, they are more likely to fear becoming a victim of acts of violent and are more likely to confuse fantasy violent with real world violence and without a framework for t ethical decision making, they may imitate the actions they see in violent games (Douglas 59). There are many violent games where they promote violence like the popular game Theft Auto video games where you can actually commit violent crimes in almost life like graphical quality and get paid for it. These video games can also train youth to be killers. The US Marine Corps licensed Doom II in 1996 to create Marine Doom in order to train soldiers. In 2002, the US Army released first-person shooter Americas Army to recruit soldiers and prepare recruits for the battlefield, kids buy it and learn how to shot guns or learn how to kill someone instantly just like when soldiers go to war violence (Kutner 123). They are also becoming more violent than ever. An unspoken motto in the video game industry is “Violence sells” and as long as they are selling they dont care about the effects that can cause their games to other people.
