Florence Kelley Case
Kelley uses it to both strengthen her point and bring about disgust for child labor conditions that would have otherwise may have been overlooked by people who were not effected by them. The second passage in this that really stuck out to me was her allusion/reference to the womens’ suffrage movement. She keeps in mind her audience; she knows who is going to back her cause and appealing to them is vital. Not only that but by bringing in this simple allusion she is simultaneously backing the underlying cause of womens’ rights which is also very important to her. This is something I didn’t really consider in my summer essay, and for some odd reason it stuck out to me today as being more important than one would originally think. I analyzed the imagery Kelley uses to make the issue seem more real.Kelley uses it to both strengthen her point and bring about disgust for child labor conditions that would have otherwise may have been overlooked by people who were not effected by them.
