The IKEA Group is owned by a foundation, Stichting INGKA Foundation , which is registered in the Netherlands. The foundation owns INGKA Holding B.V. the parent company for all IKEA Group companies – from the industrial group Swedwood to the sales companies that own the stores in the various countries. IKEA Sustainability: An Incentive Approach to Business and Economic Recovery

The Ikea Group has a strong track record. In 2013-2014, in order to support its annual budgets, the Ikea Group developed a series of initiatives and objectives to be used under Ikea’s sustainability policy. These included:

1) The aim of the Ikea Group is to create sustainable sustainable communities for young people, who have access to basic skills and the ability to apply those in knowledge for better employment.

2) Our project focused on improving the infrastructure, employment, social services and economic well-being of young people around the world.

3) We developed a strong focus on international markets, focusing on improving the country’s physical, intellectual, technical and cultural development.

4) We pursued a comprehensive strategy to achieve the goals, including a global footprint of 1.05 billion strong worldwide.

5) We made several initiatives aimed to promote the positive impact of the Ikea-specific actions. We aimed to achieve both a strong, healthy and sustainable economy.

Achieving that aim requires an economic transformation – and one that is a sustainable process, not a one based on individual preferences or specific interests.

We undertook projects such as opening up IKEA stores, promoting sustainable development models and reducing the number of companies that operate in a given area.

The Ikea Group’s actions and objectives have led to significant reductions in the country gross domestic product, a 10 percent reduction in the number of restaurants and shops in the world, and a 1 percent increase in economic growth of more than 1.5 percent.

Moreover, we improved food production, and in particular in terms of quality produce and services, by expanding the size of restaurants in the entire country.

We have also developed an economic programme for future sustainable development of IKEA stores. In this programme we aim to use the new Ikea store in Mihailville, central Amsterdam, to be one of the flagship stores in the IKEA Group’s global brand store. We hope to promote local competitiveness through our innovative sustainability policies.

The Ikea Group’s economic performance has continued to make a significant contribution to its own prosperity.

The economic performance of the Ikea Group in 2013-2014 helped to fuel its growth and further build its competitiveness.

how the IKEA Group worksA low price is the result of a methodical, systematic approach from initial idea through product development, supply, distribution and retail all the way to the customerÒs home. Many pieces of the jigsaw have to fit together before a product is in place in the store. The key to success is close cooperation between designers, product developers, purchasers, suppliers – and our customers.

Group Support FunctionsWork within the IKEA group is supported by a total of nine staff units in the Netherlands (IKEA Services B.V) and Sweden (IKEA Services AB).Experts and economies of scaleDecentralisation is the maxim at IKEA, but to fully exploit the economy of scale and keep prices low, experts in central positions deal with certain key areas from the food served in the store restaurants to the production of the IKEA catalogues.
