Technology- the one thing that people love to use and manipulate- will soon use and manipulate people. Technology is everywhere, so there is no avoiding it, but humanity should not spend all of their time with technology.Firstly, humanity uses technology as if it is mans best creation. For instance, Asimov writes “… all others like them, were fully entitled to share in the glory that was Multivac’s” (1, 13-14). This shows that they treat technology like a God by worshiping it. This also shows that they fully trusted in the technology and never questioned anything it told them. In addition, Asimov also writes “ ‘Our Microvac is the best Microvac in the world’ “(2, 30). This illustrates that not only did they worship technology, but they even compared it to other technologies to see who had the best! This also illustrates that people always wanted the best technology; theirs had to be better than anyone else’s. In brief, technology is given most of people’s time and attention.Secondly, technology has a mind of its own, which makes it less dependent on the people that control it, but makes the people dependent on the technology. For example, Asimov writes, “man’s last mind fused and only AC existed…” (6,12). This shows that man became too dependent on technology. This also shows that man was no longer able to think for himself. Then, the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid!?” reads “ masses of laborers are daily and hourly enslaved by the machine.” (Nick Romeosep). This shows that people are constantly using technology on a daily basis. This also shows that people are spending so much time with technology that they are becoming slaves for it. In brief, people should not become too dependent on technology.
