Why has cloning become such a controversial subject? Why are so many people opposed, and some welcome it with open arms? Most people are opposed to this subject because of religious reason and some for human rights. Some would say that cloning could be beneficial to our society, saving lives, extending lives, and even changing lives. Could the lack of understanding make people uneasy about this topic? I fell that to truly be opposed to cloning you have to understand the true science behind it. To me cloning has a lot of positive and negative points to it that are all very important.

Human cloning should be banned because of its many dangers. It is estimated that between 95 and 98 percent of cloning experiments have failed (Genetics and Society). These downfalls to this study are in the form of miscarriages and stillbirths (Genetics and Society). Even if the clone survives there are still a number of medical problems that they are susceptible to. Clones run the risk of genetic abnormalities which range from mental to physical problems. Because the DNA that is used to produce a clone comes from adult humans the DNA of the new clone is also that of an adult. The clone would take on all traits of the DNA that it comes from. The main problem the clones would have is ageing fasted then they should. Because the DNA is that of an older human the child would also have problems like arthritis, it would share the same appearance, and organ function as the adult human that it originated from.

In the science field cloning is a big topic. Most people think that it will solve our health problems. They think that having their own personal clone will extend their lives and replace any origins or limbs that they my need. But the problem is they dont understand the science behind it. They dont understand that the clone is a human just like them, they dont know the complications and negative affects cloning has on the defenseless embryo.

There are many arguments for cloning, but most of them are not scientifically thought out. Most people think its just as simple as growing a plant in a pot when its not. People dont understand the dangers of cloning at all, all they know is that cloning could help them and they dont care what it takes.
