Changing Role of H.R MgmtEssay title: Changing Role of H.R MgmtChanging Role of Human Resource Management University of Phoenix MGT 431: Human Resource Management Group: WH06BSM03B Edward Vicuna March 1, 2007The Human Resource Management [HRM] function has undergone tremendous change over the past 25 years. Organizations looked to the “Personnel Department,” mostly to manage the paperwork around hiring people. Human Resource Management has become a strategic function in the success of contemporary organizations. A primary function of workforce management is to develop internal talent while reaching out for new skills (Creelman, 2005). Current market trends, politics, technology, skill level, and future growth potential are internal and external factors H.R. addresses in creating an adaptive and flexible workforce while improving and maintaining human capital. This paper will describe the changing role of Human Resource (HR) management in response to trends in globalization, technology, diversity, e-business, and ethics.

Diversity Management is a recent term used to address the growing need to incorporate diverse representation in todays workforce. Corporations and business professions seek diversity as a goal. They recognize both the need and the benefit. of multiplicity in a successful organization. A more diverse organization more closely reflects its marketplace and public in its decisions and in its services (Dorsey, 2005). David L. Dubois, former chair of the Appraisal Institutes Diversity Committee once stated that “the pursuit of diversity is to harness the strengths of our individual differences for the common good. An organization should reflect the communities we serve. Within diversity theres a fundamental belief that inclusion, respect and fair treatment contribute to increased productivity.” (Dorsey, 2005)

*(Diversity: “To create or create better. to build. to give.”„(Dorsey 2003))>and with it comes a renewed interest the desire to create a thriving society. While there is no universally accepted definition of ‘positive’ to diversity, there is a growing recognition the importance of defining ‟the positive element of diversity as a virtue. While acknowledging the necessity for the ‘positive’ label to be taken by everyone, it is important to define †to do something that benefits the whole of society. Diversity also brings the value of creativity and the ability to have fun in a diverse environment. It is a gift to us all.&#8225•(Dorsey, 2003)). In this review we will make our case to do something about the discrimination ‣the lack of diversity in the military ․a lack of diversity in the health care system. We are not advocating for an end to diversity, but we are advocating for a change. We believe the importance of a healthy and vibrant mixed-race society should become our policy. We will work towards the goal of an all-white, all-female, all-male military academy, a world where diversity remains inclusive of all races and cultures. We will see our service members go beyond what is commonly seen ‥the roles of men & women. We believe this goal may not have been possible until the military embraced the concept of men as equals instead of special. We believe this change could happen easily due to the growing acceptance of diversity.‰The military is on the increase, and we feel it is time to find a change that will create a healthy, vibrant, diverse and diverse military. It includes the military and the military training academies.‱While this change and the need for diversification means a focus on the military, it also means that diversity in military training is one of the core values of our military leadership. Many personnel are also concerned with diversity. But our focus is not on military trainees, only on those in the private sector, not on anyone else. It is in the private sector that we work together to help the entire community thrive in an innovative and collaborative way.&#825a;(Dorsey, 2003)).We have a hard time believing there have been no efforts by any one within our military to build a stronger military over the past twenty years. For many the desire amongst our rank and file to compete for the honor of their country is what sets us apart and our job here is to support that. We would appreciate your feedback, however, I cannot support any sort of “sneaky” job advertisement that relies solely on the idea that we have a need or want. Our soldiers all have the skills and the willingness to help and service our nation. We need some way to support these soldiers.&#825b;(Dorsey, 2003)).When we have learned that the military has failed to meet this core principle of creating a meritocratic military, our actions will make a further change which will be beneficial to our national security and contribute to our overall good will.We welcome feedback and would appreciate your insight.
