GAY MARRIAGE IN AUSTRALIA
Two human beings meet each other and fall in love, they believe they have found their soul mates in one another and want to spend the rest of their lives together. They want to get married but they cant, not because of financial issues or relationship problems but because of their gender it is the same. Who can deny two humans, who have the foundations on which a successful marriage is built; love, the right to get married.

I believe that refusing two people the institution of marriage based on their gender simply unacceptable, discriminatory and plain wrong. There are many factors why same-sex marriage should be legalized, some of these are; everyones right to equality, the forward growth and acceptance of sexual orientation in modern day western society and the fact that homosexuality has been existed since life began.

There is nothing abnormal about being homosexual. To date, there has been no real conclusive research that shows the causes of either homosexuality, bisexuality or for that matter, heterosexuality. Some believe it is predetermined genetically and some believe it is determined hormonally. Either way, you are born the way you are and you cannot change that, this is why it should not be discriminated against.

The studies of Dr Alfred Kinsey suggest that; in fact, few people are predominately heterosexual OR homosexual. Most people fall somewhere along the range between these two ends of the scale, and therefore have the ability to experience both affection and sexual feelings for members of both sexes.

Homosexuality has been around since as far as records go back. A study in non-western parts of the world showed that 67% of people look at homosexuality as normal and accepted by others. Why in this day and age can we not move forth and just as accepting? Other countries including the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium Norway, Spain Mexico, South Africa, states in the U.S and even Canada who are a commonwealth nation just like us, recognize same-sex marriage.

Every human being should be given equal rights. Imagine if you had a son or daughter, who was homosexual, would you want them to have the same rights to get married just as every other heterosexual couple. The answer is; Yes.

Teenagers and kids in this generation are a lot more accepting of homosexuality. When they look at people, their sexuality is not something they are judged on as although it is a major part of who they are, it doesnt make them a bad or lesser person. Adults need to look at the issue the same way, they need to take into account the feelings of same-sex couples and accept them for who they are.
