The first and most important task to ensure success in research is to carefully and precisely compose a research question. “A Student’s Guide to Research” identifies the first step towards successful research is to frame your research question carefully and precisely. My own interpretation of the first step of research simply is to find a topic of discussion that you are willing to dissect, analyze, and eventually share your findings for. By determining reputable sources, one’s research is more likely to produce the most anticipated outcomes. When one is conducting research on human behavior it is sometimes more difficult to obtain and analyze gathered information. To collect data and analyze bullying, it may be imperative to conduct a focus group with peers or other groups of individuals directly related to the topic.

Our human rights ensure that we as individuals, or groups, are protected from instances that directly violate our freedom and human nobility. Bullying is most commonly described as an unwanted aggressive behavior brought forth by an individual or group using strength or influence to force someone to do, otherwise unwilling, actions by means of intimidation. Studies show that twenty percent of children are significantly bullied because of their ethnicity or race, and experience bigotry and racism in their own school’s seventy percent of the time. These statistics could very well be inaccurate because often time the student feels isolated and is too afraid to report his/her abuse.

Bullying and deviance are directly related in numerous ways. Because deviance is a behavior that responsively violates cultural norms that often result in hostility once its displayed, we can directly link bullying to all types of deviance. There are lots of different ways one can bully or be bullied. For example, cyber bullying is a form of bullying which targets online victims and may be viewed as a form of deviance of the powerful.
