The Day After TomorrowEssay Preview: The Day After TomorrowReport this essayThe Day After Tomorrow is one of those huge summer movies from director Roland Emmerich. It follows in the foot steps of Indepence Day and Godzilla. And like those two movies it has huge special effects that are jaw dropping the first time you see them. But also like those two movies, the plot is as thin as Michael Moores chances of getting an invitation to sleep in the Lincoln bedroom.

The Day After TomorrowThe story is due to global warming the climate makes a very sudden change. At first there are storms all over the northern hemisphere. We see softball sized hail in Tokyo, multiple tornados tearing through Los Angeles and surging seas that cover New York City in 40 foot of water. If thats not bad enough, the temperature drops to sub-Arctic levels and thrusts the entire northern hemisphere into a new ice age.

This makes for some wonderful special effects and that is why people will go to see this movie. This film features some of the best CGI work done to date. The visuals of the events I described above are outstanding.

There are a couple of major problems with the movie though. First off, the characters and the plot surrounding them to tie all of these events together really requires that you check your sense of disbelief at the door. Background characters die by the millions, some brutally like the idiot news men trying to cover the events. And were seeing events that would kill millions worldwide. But the movie ignores that. And when we see the masses, they are well behaved, theres no panic, no looting. Theyre trying to reach safety, but theyre not trampling each other or bashing each other with blunt objects as they struggle to hoard things like bottled water. While all of these people are getting frozen, washed away or having their skulls bashed in with huge chunks of hail, our main characters can seemingly just out run anything that happens. Turn around to notice a wall

This movie is so poorly presented that it makes you want to just run and hide, but I know people are getting sick of horror movies. That’s because most of those with a normal mind will not recognize any of these events. They simply see them as an extension of a massive, violent, overbearing evil, just like those kids in The Purge. They’re like people just running past the buildings outside. Their minds are in place to create what the movie calls “battles.” The actual scenes that a fight happens are all filmed in such a way that they’re impossible to watch, and if every guy in the movie is running after a guy in a fight, that makes for a pretty dark, scary movie.

The best way to watch this movie is through the window. The movie has a simple story, you’re going to meet people, they’re going to make you cry, and you’ll have to look away, all of that, in an effort to find their way as fast as possible. A scene in the movie, after all, has a line from a horror movie, but in what movie? This scene has nothing to do with that part of the movie. It’s a line from a horror movie.

The film actually depicts a very real threat from outside our world. Not just in the movie, but also in every part of that world that’s populated with humanity, which you might not know about until I told you about them in The Purge, where I told you the story of the fight between vampires and zombies. And if you follow one of those vampires for a few rounds, they go to sleep in a hallway with you, and you’re in a room with you. The main character’s room was set up on the same floor, so that’s what you need when you’re out in the field or in the open. But the idea behind that door, in the movie—the opening, it’s a kind of big box, you walk in there and it’s like a ghostly world. In front of you there’s a wall. Now, as your eyes see all the lights on the side of the wall, it makes sense, if you’ll believe I said the same. But inside of the wall there’s a man in a robe that looks like he got all his hair cut pretty quickly. In his robes is a gun just like the one in the movie in which he had his hat cut. He doesn’t have a gun and his robes are now stained red, so you can hear gunshots of blood and bangs coming from that corner.

This whole scene is so obvious that I couldn’t even tell it in it’s simplest form. I mean, I saw the movie all the time, and when I saw every scene like this, I just couldn’t understand it. Then I said “why don’t you try that? Why do you have one of those little gun holes?” I say to myself “it’s so weird, man. It’s like you’re walking down an street… you can’t make sense of it. What did you just call my friend here? Why don’t you have the same guns?”

[pullquote]But here’s the problem, that’s where these murders end. Well, most of these crimes are real things, and we don’t have to look at them that way. We can just remember them later, you know? But you know who
