James Patterson is well known for his heart pumping homicide mystery. In 1st to Die a homicide detective Lindsay Boxer struggles with solving a triple homicide while trying to fight a rare blood condition called Neglis. Patterson is quite adept to creating interesting characters and his best comes from this novel.

How the mind of Patterson works, I dont think anyone will ever now. The truth is he loves creating a good mystery, and a successful novel brings food to the table. 1st to Die

Lindsay Boxer was an ambitious detective that aggressively took a hold on critical situations. She lives alone without any family, (except for her dog Martha) and makes the best of her life (). Lindsay has Neglis which is a rare disease the Red blood cells are vital to the bodys process formation of blood cells in the bone marrow (15). Lindsay falls “passionately” in love with her new partner, Chris Raleigh. Having trustworthy issues, Lindsay keeps all her emotions within herself. She doesnt confide in Chris, for the fear of being rejected because of her rare blood disease (). Lindsay had been hurt emotionally in the past by her previous husband.() When Lindsay finally opens up to a new person, he perished by Chessy in a heartbeat. Feeling like there is nothing to live for Lindsay emotionally frustrated decides to destroy her meaningless life. () This is what makes Lindsay the strongest; she had the one true thing, that had meaning to her life, taken away, and it was just a memory. Thats the reason why she doesnt kill herself because all the memories she had of Chris gave her the craving to live, to hold on another day (). Lindsay is resilience at everything she sets her mind to (). If anyone is near a situation like this, I hope they react to it like Lindsay.
