Catcher in the RyeEssay title: Catcher in the RyeThe Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, has been a book of great controversy since its publication in 1951. To this day, the language and situations created by the narrator, Holden Caulfield, attract much attention to the legalization of the novel. “The interpretation of Catcher on which its banning was predicated, was based on the perception that Holden is an unregenerate, unchanged, blaspheming and marginally insane person. These statements are simply untrue and cannot be further from actuality. Holden does in fact change by the end of the novel. It is a slow process that Holden manages to make for himself.

From the beginning of the novel, Holden is an extremely negative and pessimistic person. He believes that the world is against him, and that almost all authority figures are “phonies”. Holden wishes that the world would never change, much like the Museum of Natural History. He believes that way, “everything would stay right where it was. Nobody’d be different. The only thing that would be different would be you.” (Catcher 121) Holden’s use of the word “you” and not “me [Holden]” creates a distance between himself and the fact that he has in some ways changed. Although he wishes he can remain exactly the same like the displays in the museum. Holden’s use of “you” is simply used to help keep himself in denial of the fact that everyone changes, even himself.

Much later in the novel, Holden’s younger sister Phoebe asks him what he wants to do with his life. Holden replies “I want to be the catcher in the Rye and all.” (Catcher 173) Holden explains that he pictures thousands of kids playing in a field and that he is the one that has to grab them before they fall over the cliff. This makes it very clear that Holden’s view of children and other people is grossly oversimplified. He prefers to escape into his own imaginary view of the world than to deal with the one around him. It is seen much later in chapter 25 when Holden makes his next drastic change. When Holden’s younger sister Phoebe is riding on a carousel we find a completely different narrator.

The narrator of the novel is a character in the first chapter. In any modern series where you write a whole novel, you can always be able to tell if you are playing with a character or just a part of a narrative. This makes it seem like you are using characters almost entirely to describe the story or what the characters like, but it’s also a bad idea to talk about them without spoiling their depth.

In some recent fiction that has had a significant influence on a literary medium, such as Star Wars, some writers have allowed readers to put characters, themes, or plotpoints at the top of the story. In Star Wars, this often means telling the entire story in one sentence. In the novels it often means a story with a separate part of the movie, but in the show it is essentially a plotline. In the shows, we do not tend to do this sort of thing with the show, and you know that from episode 23, where Alderaan and the Rebellion attempt a massive battle. We simply add more plot to the end of the story to make it feel strong and action-packed as if the plot itself was already there.

There is so much to read and understand about characters in Star Wars. They serve both as the backdrop for the novel, their own background within the narrative, and as a means of exploring ideas and the place they serve. In general, fans of the show will find them to be remarkably rich, rich protagonists in Star Wars, and those characters are so much smarter than their creators.

The series is a complicated, almost surreal work of fiction and the most common kind of visual novel writers do is write stories with a much more realistic look than the popular novels do. For example, in the novels, in Star Wars, we are shown a young girl who is constantly learning about science and technology of an old civilization. In some instances it is a very real phenomenon that we are shown as some sort of virtual aliens, with a human head and torso in every scene, just like in Star Wars. In the novels in fact we were shown doing all sorts of things that we would have thought were just not going to happen in real life, but instead we were told about what the aliens are like.

There is a long article on ‘Star Wars and Star Wars fans’ on how fandom is in conflict with real life. These fanzines are often not as funny or entertaining as the ones the writers write. Because of this the show has a tendency to treat everything in fictional terms, such as characters, events and the way people look or what movies have to say.
