The Catcher in the Rye
Essay title: The Catcher in the Rye
Many people usually maintain a similar mood throughout one day. Unless something drastically happens, mostly everyone is happy, sad, or any other mood. As shown in the novel The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield is different. He is sort of different, and does not “comply” with this behavior in human personalities. He is an exception. In Holden Caulfield’s world, his ideas cause him to change his moods and subjects constantly.

This circumstance might happen to many people. Some people carry it out more than others, but they certainly carry it out. For example, Holden Caulfield changes moods constantly. In some cases, he feels really good, while in others he feels really bad. Also, in some instances, he talks about a certain subject, and then instantly he changes his talk to a totally different subject. This sometimes can be described as a Stream of Consciousness.

I also act in similar ways. It has happened to me that in some cases, I am full of energy and feeling really happy, and then suddenly I feel really bad, as almost depressed. One time, I was feeling really great, because I had just gone shopping for clothes and shoes. My cousins were over at my house and everyone was in a good mood. We had sort of a party going on. Soda , food, snacks, and people watching football games were everywhere. We were all having a good time, when all of a sudden I entered a room. I was in my grandparent’s room at the time. When I entered the room, I felt really bad, really depressed. For some reason my mood changed. I felt kind of mad, and I was mad for no reason.
