The Prime Minister’s Powerful Better Half
The Prime Minister’s Powerful better HalfQuestion 1: I believe that Ho Ching could be an influent leader not only because of her experience and education but also because of the fact that she is married to the Prime Minister.  Being married to an important person often gives you an advantages and your opinion and believes are more easily heard.  She has all the qualities to become a leader with great influence. Ignoring those facts I think it’s to early to predict whether or not she is an influential leader. Without visible results or achieves it is too early to say she can be described as influential. The amount of information given in the case is to small to conclude anything, – besides her ranking on the list of most powerful businesspeople there isn’t any visible results of her influence. Question 2: Ho Ching uses the soft tactics in her speech were she appeals to people’s heart while she supports it with hard facts. She uses rational persuasion with the factual and logical evidence about Asia’s history while praising what they have accomplished. She uses inspirational appeals through statements about the fact that it is India’s time to “glory” and stir, which arouses enthusiasm and emotion among her targets. These two types of influence tactics combined speak to people’s intelligence and when used in the right way it can achieve their trust and gain their respect. Question 3: Ho Ching has expert power because of her highly recognized education from Standford and her great experience in the industry. She also posses legitimate power through her position as CEO were she has a lot of power, authority and control. I’ll argue that Ho has referent influence through her husband’s position as the prime minister.
