Hilary Clinton recently gave a speech at the Ohio primary. She said that Ohio would be the state to turn around the presidential election, and that it’s not a question of fulfilling a dream, it is saying we will do it. While her speech was very powerful to the masses, she had many fallacies in it.

The first one I recognized was a faulty causality. She states, “…You know what they say: As Ohio goes, so goes the nationвЂ¦Ð²Ð‚Ñœ This is a faulty causality because she is saying if Ohio goes one way towards one particular nominee, the nation will follow. Another one I saw was begging the question. Hilary says, “…Voters faced a critical question: Who is tested and ready to be commander-in-chief on day one? And who knows how to turn our economy around? Because we sure do need itвЂ¦Ð²Ð‚Ñœ She basing her assumption on that all voters are going to the polls with just these two questions in mind, and picking a nominee. I think that some voters are going to the polls with more than just this on their minds. One last fallacy I saw was ad hominem. She said, “…America needs a president whos ready to lead, ready to stand up for whats right even when its hard. And after seven long years of George W. Bush we sure are ready for a president who will be a fighter, a doer, and a champion for the American people again.” I think that she is attacking President Bush saying that he isn’t a fighter, doer, or champion for the American people.

I think that Hilary’s proposals are justified in some ways. One is the need for healthcare is great, but I feel that she is making another promise to us, just like every other politician. I think she used a lot of generalizations in her speech that doesn’t pertain to the general public, or young people of America. I feel that the election of 2008 is focusing more on the problems at hand like the economy, and
