High School Seniors, with all the opportunities out there for after high school studies, do you think you should stay home for school or go away? But remember how huge this step is to send you in the path of your soon successful lives. Attending a college close to home can ease the emotional transition from high school to college, but going away to school can bring you one step closer to letting go of your childhood and moving on with your life and career. The question is why stay home? Why go away?

Lets first begin by analyzing the pros and cons of staying home. By staying home you are having the same school life as what you have had your who childhood. No extra freedom, parents still holding onto you, and limiting your activities out of school. There are 70% of students who attend college near home instead of going away (Morales). The decision of an young adult is declared by the type of individual which you are. Attending college near home would benefit you in so many ways that you wouldnt expect were necessary until you are actually feel them. Some pros are being aware of your surroundings and feeling comfortable about what you are doing. Another plus, is having some free time to get a job and be able to work while attending school. You can do your laundry at home for free and the occasional home cooked meals, which can be a big plus. College is also much cheaper if you choose to stay home instead of going to a much larger school farther away. Now that you heard the pros and cons of staying home for college lets talk about if you were to go away to school.

Going away for College is a decision that will determine how strong your commitment is to becoming successful. It takes countless hours not to just study for classes but to travel back and forth home to visit family, friends, etc. Many colleges away from your homes dont allow freshmen to have cars, which makes traveling back and forth even more stressful. Same to getting food and other necessities at the local business stores. Finding a good part time job to work with while scheduling around your school and travel schedule would be almost impossible if you are trying to get many hours. You also have to consider the cost of going away to school. College tuition in the recent years has ranged from 15,000 for a state college and up to 40,000 for a private school. Some pros of going away are having the opportunity to meet new people and different types of people whom you have not previously come into contact with. Moving away can also be a great experience to grow and become independent at a younger age. Exploring a new city outside of the one you may have lived in all your life.
