idol. Many people adored him and many teens idolized him. At the age of 16 in high school he played the trumpet and then after a while he agreed to become the lead singer in his band. He and his band had many performances in clubs and around the Pittsburgh area. Then after a while one of his taped performances was sent to epic records. In 1960 was when they signed him to the label. One of bobby’s first best hit was “Roses are Red” (My Love), which helped him reached number one and very successful. It stayed number 1 for 4 weeks and was on the billboard hot 100’s. it sold over 4 million copies. It was also composed by Al Byron and Paul Evans. Britain by Ronnie Carroll’s top 10 cover version had overtaken bobby’s first hit.

He also had another number one hit “blue Velvet” in the U.S. when it hit the U.K. at first it was ignored but then in 1990 it became at the top of the charts after being noticed in a nivea skin cream commercial in the U.K.. David lynch named his movie “Blue Velvet” which was also number one on the charts after Bobby’s song “Blue Velvet”. But another American smash made number 34 on the charts in 1963. This was a remake of Vaughn Monroe “There! I’ve Said it Again” which also was a number 1 hit.

He played in many nightclubs and still continued until 1968. A combination of jimmy Crawford’s “I Love How You Love Me”, Bobby Vee’s “Take Good Care Of My Baby” and the Teddy bears was re sung in a different way by Bobby Vinton were it made its way to the top hot 100’s and the top 10�s in 1967-68. it also happened again in 1972 with Brian Hyland’s “Sealed With A Kiss”.

After a while even though he still was making hits, epic records dropped his contract cause they thought he wouldn’t sell anymore. In 1974 bobby co written a new song himself “My Melody Of Love” which he spent $50,000 of his own money on it to make. Many record labels turned him down until ABC records took a chance with his song. With this song it became a multi-million single that was sold and was number one on the AC charts in 1974 which gave him another good song which topped the charts in the U.S. at number 3.
