Yellowtail Marine
You arrive at YellowTail Marine. You have not been introduced as the new CEO nor have your met the majority of the employees. How do you introduce yourself while respecting the somber tone given the CEOs death? Are there key employees you would want to meet first? What strategy would be most plausible – for the short term? For the long term?

I would have to take into consideration that the previous CEO may have many close friends in the company so all actions and words from you need to be respectful. Even if the CEO was in that position for only a short time, due to the unexpected nature of death, I need to show the utmost sensitivity. I would introduce myself to the employees as a group – perhaps ask all employees to gather in the meeting room, production area, or other large area and would state, “my name is Secil. I want each person to know that I am sorry for the loss of Olaf. Please know that as we make this transition in CEOs my door is always open to you”. This lets the employees know that I have acknowledged the loss that they have experienced. It doesnt even matter if they actually liked the CEO or if they felt the CEO didnt do a good job or wasnt properly trained. As the new CEO, you need to show respect for the event that has happened, which in this case is the death of the former CEO.
By letting the employees know that my door is always open to them, they will likely feel more comfortable in welcoming me into the company as opposed to a CEO that is unfriendly and continually has his or her door shut, and doesnt take the time to talk or interact with employees. Let the employees know I am there for them.

I would want to meet key employees first. I would want to meet the other executives and high level managers first, including the human resources manager, production manager, etc. I would introduce myself to the executives and high-level managers separately in a meeting
