TRAINING HEART RATE
BACKGROUND
Oxygen consumption (V02) and heart rate are the two determining factors in training heart rate. These two variables are a positive linear relationship; as work increases so does heart rate and oxygen consumption. Training heart rate is different for everyone and varies according to exercise being done as well as intensity. In this experiment I will only be focusing on heart rate as I cannot get any more complicated with the tools available to me. I will be using heart rate because it is a good indicator as to how hard the heart is working and the amount of stress on the heart. I will calculating a THR range to avoid going above my lactate threshold, which would make it difficult for me to sustain the activity, allowing me have low and high values, making sure there is a training response.

METHODS
I must do several calculations in order to find my THR range. I first need to calculate my maximum heart rate (HRmax), which I will be using a method provided by Londeree and Moeschberger from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I will also factor in my resting heart rate with my maximum heart rate, using the Karvonen Method, in order to find my maximal heart rate reserve (MHRR). Finally, I will use all these numbers in order to find my THR range.

RESULTS
HRmax=20.3-(0.71xAge)
HRmax=206.3-(0.71×26)=187.84
MHRR=HRmax-HRrest
MHRR=187.84-60=127.84
THR=HRrest+%max desired (MHRR)
I wil be calculating a range from 50% to 80% HRmax
=60+.50(127.84)=123.92
