Index/ScienceHeart RatecatadpIt is known to everyone who exercises, that the human body has its own way to measure exercise intensity; in other words, your heart rate. People may not be aware that there are ways for them to know what their maximum heart rate is, in order to be safe while exercising. This can be measured in various different ways; using age, a Cardio Assessment, and a Metabolic Assessment. Heart rate can change by several different factors that can affect even more than 10bpm (beats per minute) from your heart rate. These factors include age, the size of your heart, heat, hydration and more.

These test are made to know what is happening psychologically, to see how your efforts are affecting your cardiovascular health. Digifit, for example, offers a variety of tests to calculate different aspects of fitness. These are made to determine your heart rate, pace, or basically your fitness level. Some tests are more accurate than others, but they all have a purpose; to find their customer’s personal zone. Overall, this method can be more accurate than by calculating by age, but it isn’t the most accurate out of the three different methods. This can get you to a closer estimate, but there still could be some flaws.

The last way, the best way, to calculate your heart rate is by using a Metabolic Assessment. There are some companies that provide this to the public, and one of these companies is called New Leaf Fitness. This company allows for you to take this assessment and it gives you an exact definition of your zones, since it uses
