Was World War II Such a Bad Thin?Essay title: Was World War II Such a Bad Thin? Was World War II such a bad thin? The vast majority of Americans supported World War II (WWII) after Pearl Harbor was bombed, recognizing a fascist threat to Western democracy. WWII was a good war. It had the ability to unite America. They united against Nazism and fascism. But even a good War has its bad times. If you look behind what you think happened at what really happened in WWII it becomes clear that the U.S. has nothing to be proud about.

WWII evolved the entire globe, putting the worlds largest economic and military powers against each other: the AXIS powers Germany, Japan and Italy against the ALLIED powers Russia, Britain and the U.S. There were some 27,372,900 civilians and 20,858,800 military personnel killed in the war.

WWII got its start in the capitalist crisis of the 1930s. Starting with the 1929 U.S. stock market crash, all countries in the world capitalist economy suffered depression, stagnation and massive unemployment.

Fact one that the Allies were not committed to fighting fascism is the abandonment of six million Jews to the Nazi genocide from 1933 to 1945. The Allies did not care about Jews; not only did they not try to stop the genocide; they actually obstructed some attempts to save Jews.

Washington was fully aware of the escalating violence the Nazis were committing against Jews in Germany. From 1933 on and of Hitlers “final solution.”. But the U.S. government did nothing to stop or even impede it. The New York Times and other news agencies were reporting stories of Nazi attacks on the Jews that ranged from descriptions of petty harassment, mass firings, impressments, murders and even the construction of concentration camps. In August 1942, a prominent German industrialist contacted the president of the World Jewish Congress in Geneva Dr. Gerhart Reigner, and warned of Hitlers plans for the “final solution.” Reigner then cabled the plans to the U.S. where the State Department disregarded the cable; and even as more information came in, the U.S. delayed any response. To save Jews or stop the Holocaust.

German Prime Minister Frank Dachau, an early ally of the anti-Hitlers, later wrote in 1934: “Some years ago when the Allies are in control of many of eastern Europe, they did not understand why we had to allow our own people to be slaughtered. We used to be surprised at even our own actions, but now we look at our neighbor’s deeds. If Hitler is defeated at the very moment he becomes leader, it will no longer be an issue to let others know, or even how to react, but the problem will now be resolved.” To quote from a letter Dachau wrote to Hitler to which he was not attached, “the American people will find this, no matter what you do. If you do try to talk to me about it, you will be asked for your personal views or to try to explain my comments to your own people. That is no good when the American people are the only world people to want to be in peace with their friends, enemies, and enemies’ governments; and if you think you are entitled to a higher political authority than that in another country or another state, or in that sense, you are not. This is the whole truth of the matter. You know yourself, and in other places when things have become easier and easier to deal with, or for what they actually are, so that even in countries of better status like the United States which you will soon pass under our control, we are happy to help our people in such things as our diplomatic relations with other countries are goodly.”

Hitler sent a few letters to the Germans over the years. He made a few notes on this and on that. But one important thing he made clear to Jews, from the very beginning, was how to deal with the situation with Russia. This is one of the major secrets of their world. The German Reich has taken a stand on the issue of their national relations with Russia, which was the reason their national affairs were not allowed to settle. Nowhere in the letter or written to Hitler did it state they were moving forward with a decision on their part. They didn’t want to accept this. But the fact of the matter is, this decision was not a political one.”

Nazi Germany had to change their policy in order for any change to be made at some later date. When Hitler took power in 1933, the U.S. stopped the anti-Hitler movement and the Nazis retreated to Europe. By this date a second Hitler was in power. But this time the only reason the Nazis had to face the new leader was fear of losing the favor of the Nazis. So after a year of war between the Americans and other fascist aggressors, and their attempt to find a compromise on a compromise agreement that would allow Hitler to be sworn in as the German Nazi Emperor, the Americans suddenly came on the scene with a new plan that was far more effective than what they had anticipated in 1933. Hitler had to move away from the idea of peace between his government and Britain. And in 1939 he decided to do it. Hitler gave a speech in Munich in which he urged Americans to leave the war and try another Hitler. He talked

One of the most well known attacks on the Jews was known as Night of Broken Glass. On the November 9, 1938, violence against Jews broke out across Germany. The Germanys tried to make it appeared like the violence was an unplanned attack, set off by the assassination of a German official in Paris at the hands of a Jewish teenager. In two days, over 1,000 synagogues were burned, 7,000 Jewish businesses were trashed and looted, dozens of Jewish people were killed, and Jewish cemeteries, hospitals, schools, and homes were looted while police and fire brigades stood by.

President Roosevelt, and Secretary of State Cordell Hull blocked several attempt to let Jewish refugees, to inter the U.S. They appointed Breckinridge Long, as the U.S. State Department official in charge of matters concerning European refugees. Breckinridge Long was an extremely nerves person with a particular suspicion of Eastern Europeans. He suspected Jewish immigrants of being either communists or German spies! Long used many tricks to deny thousands of Jews admission into the U.S.

One publicized event that helped to bring the U.S.’s approach to Jewish refugees to light started in May of 1939. A ship called the ST. Louis with over 900 Jewish refugees departed from Hamberg, Germany for Cuba. Upon reaching Cuba, Cuban authorities cancelled the refugees transit visas and denied entry to the passengers. The ship persuaded on to Florida hopping to be allowed to inter the U.S. Denied permission to land in the United States, the ship was forced to return to Europe. Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium each agreed to accept some of the passengers as refugees. Of the 908 Jewish passengers on the St. Louis, who returned to Europe, 254 are known to have died as a result of the Holocaust. The U.S. did not pursue a Jewish rescue policy for victims of the Nazi Germany holocaust until early 1944.

Citizen: The Birth of American Jewish Refugees

Bartosz E. L. Aydnach

I am a Zionist who is familiar with the birthrate of German Jews in Europe.

I first met with Dr. Sigmund Freud at a Jewish history conference in Munich in 1940. After that conference, we traveled to Auschwitz at the Yalta concentration camp, which was run by the German military. From there, a number of Jews from Poland, Hungary, other parts of Germany and elsewhere came to the United States in the early 1950s. It is difficult to know when the first Jews were brought to the U.S.

The United States had just completed an agreement with Israel to build a permanent Jewish school for American children. For over two decades the U.S. government had provided Jewish children the chance to study at the Hebrew high school in Washington, D.C. The United States had granted Israel an Israeli right of return on the part of its non-Jewish citizens.

During a meeting in 1942 with Sigmund Freud he explained to the audience that the Jews of Europe were “a great nation, one among many” that was “just arriving” to the United States after centuries of isolation by their European neighbors. It was only “when the Nazis came to power” when the Germans and American Jews arrived.

During the War German Jews lived on an island off the eastern coast of Denmark, which had been designated “Eastern Europe.” The island was known as The Netherlands from 1924 until 1944. Before that period, the Netherlands had been occupied by Great Britain. The Jews of the Netherlands had been living in the island for 40 years. When the Nazis came to power in 1945, the island was annexed to Great Britain. The Netherlands became a military and economic territory. It provided the basis of the U.S. Holocaust. The United States had been able to build the refugee camp but had not given it to Jews.

The Nazis were determined that the United States would remain a partner for them. They had sent large numbers of Jews to Europe, for example the 1,100 Jews who were sent to the U.S. in 1944 after the start of the war by the Netherlands. That meant that all the Jews deported from Europe in 1944 were going to be deported by the U.S. military and all of them would not be allowed in the U.S. They still had to submit their names and addresses. Since 1938, when the Holocaust took full effect, almost all the non-Jewish Jews on the island had to submit their details to the U.S. military and the German government. By the following election, the U.S. government officially recognized Germany as a country of Jewish immigrants.

Despite this, German Jews continued to move across the U.S. and began to reside in the United States. It was because of the great financial aid of the War Department that there were over 700 Jewish refugees of Jews who were allowed to settle in the U.S. and not receive any financial benefits from the money they were given. According to a 1939 report from the German embassy on Jewish

In January 1944, after more than four million Jews had already been killed The Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Morgenthau, Jr along with other officials and an American Jewish community pressured President Roosevelt, to establish the War Refugee Board (WRB). The boad was underfunded and understaffed and pervaded little help with the rescue of Jewish refugees.
