Mississippi relies on tourism for much of its economy. There are many museums, theaters, beaches, and golf courses around the state. Some places are historic, others are just for pure enjoyment.

The Gulfport Centennial Museum is a museum located in Gulfport. It contains hundreds of photographs and artifacts telling about Gulfports growth over the past 100 years. Many special events and weddings are held at the museum.

A popular performing arts theater in Mississippi is the Saenger Theatre for the Performing Arts. It is located in Biloxi. It is home to the Gulf Coast Opera Theatre, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, and the KNS Theater, Many local dance companies and community art organizations perform here.

There are many beaches in Mississippi. They are clean and buildings do not block the view. The main 26-mile beach area is on Beach Boulevard. Restrooms and piers are provided on the beaches, along with beach chairs, and sailboat and Jet Ski vendors.

In Mississippi, golf is popular year round. There are over 25 championship courses, which people come to from all over the nation. The Robert Trent Jones golf course is one of the more popular courses in Mississippi. It offers over 54 holes of incredible golf. It has many creeks, marshlands and lakes. This course is considered one of the best courses in the South. It has hosted many famous golf tournaments.

Mississippis economy is largely based on tourism. Millions of people annually visit the state. The economy thrives with the money brought in from tourism.
