Group Behavior In OrganizationsWeek One Discussion 1More than ever, groups and teams are responsible for executing tasks in the workplace. Take a position on the following statement: All organizations should use the group structure as the basic building block for designing and organizing jobs.My Position: I could agree that most organizations could use the group structure as the basic building block for designing and organizing jobs, but it is not necessary for ALL of them.Reasoning: Team work within a business is never a bad thing. However, sometimes it does not work and things do not go in the direction they should. The diversity of the group will basically determine the tone of the group as well as who will do what within the group. After the “storming” period, this is when things begin to ease and you begin to get things done. Our book says that as a result in part of less “storming,” more unity, and the stability achieved through shared norms, the group begins to achieve its goals (performing) (Losh, 2011). If for some reason things are still not running efficiently you either have to resituate the group and see if someone could perform better in a different position or refill the position in the group with someone else.
