However, the introduction of green logistics, which is championed by the need to improve environmental sustainability, has transformed the amount of research directed towards establishing the above relationship.         On wider scopes, logistics is a service industry that deals with management of inventory, warehousing, packaging, transportation, as well as order processing. In the modern transport systems, logistics play the important function of driving goods and services. However, contemporary spatial and technological developments have been developed to improve the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of these systems. These efforts have been instrumental in bringing forth the introduction of green logistics.         Besides, the ethical concerns surrounding environmental conservation are a main determinant of the rising numbers of companies that have chosen to adopt green technologies in logistics (Akyelken, 2011). Among the main reasons behind the adoption of green logistics is the urge to reduce the environmental strains presented by the traditional logistic methods, such as pollution, congestion, high costs of transportation as well as deteriorating social harmony. Therefore, the green technological system entirely dictates the manner in which the green logistics infrastructure is designed.

Introduction Over the past decades, the world has developed technologically and embraced new solutions to improve the efficiency with which people and businesses operate. Perhaps, this consideration persuaded the arguments by Prause (2014), which explain the impact of efficient and effective logistic services to firms and people alike. In the argument, the author stated that logistics management is a considerable component of organization effectiveness, just as much as it is a booster of social harmony. On a similar note, Jumadi and Zailani (2010) draws attention to environmental issues related to the search for effectiveness and efficiency, arguing that logistic services are to blame for the poor environmental conditions witnessed in the world today. The two contradictory opinions above are instrumental in setting the tone for this discussion, since logistic service providers have considered the effects of their logistic choices on the environment. These choices have led to the establishment of green logistics, hence transforming the logistics services to those that adhere to the requirements of environmental friendliness. Environmental issues continue to garner importance in different fields including supply chain management. The growing importance of green logistics in the global market coupled with depletion of natural resources has forced organizations to incorporate environmental perspective in their supply chain strategies. Green logistics is critical in improving the ecological performance of organizations. Consequently, supply chain managers have a key role in choosing and developing suitable green strategies that would ensure the organizations gains competitive edge as well as improving social, economic, and environmental performance. The main concept of green logistics is to incorporate environmental considerations into the supply chain management. Green logistics plays a major role promoting responsibility towards the environmental impact of organizations’ supply chain activities. Green logistics is a subject that continues to grow interest from different stakeholders of supply chain management. According to Masoumik, Abdul-Rashid, Olugu, & Ghazilla, (2015), external pressures from different stakeholders is increasingly obliging organizations to integrate environmentally related actions in their supply chain management.
