Jordan Di         People say when one door closes, many others are opened. This can mean that for every achievement made, it will lead to more things that can be done, as well as new challenges. This is the infinite cycle of the world.        There is never an end to the amount of things people can achieve. Once something has been done, it leads to even more possibilities, and struggles. Some people believed that the achievement of air travel was the end, but that was not true. Humans developed space travel, flying off into to the vast darkness of space. The creation of air travel created more problems, like air space issues and safety issues. Even as those things are being solved, more are being discovered. Another major event is the end of the Civil War. The Thirteenth Amendment, banning slavery, and the Fourteenth Amendment, protecting the rights of citizens were passed. At this point, the Unite States of America no longer had any slaves. It seemed great, but ended up causing a lot of problems in the future. Some problems were how the seceded nations would rejoin the Union, how the country was going to deal with anti-abolitionists, and how the government was going to place former slaves on the same level as whites. The freedom and equality of the blacks was a great achievement, but left many problems in its wake.         In the book Frankenstein, a doctor named Victor is a very ambitious person. He begins to study deeply into the natural world and, eventually, is able to create life. His creation (dubbed “the Monster”), having been created in a fully developed body, had the mental state of a newborn child. This creates many problems for Victor, as the Monster begins to murder people. The result of this seemingly great achievement results in Victor’s wife and the rest of his immediate family to be killed. Even in stories, every bit of success can lead to more disaster. All of the examples so far have been in books or world changing events. This cycle occurs also in small communities. A soccer team in Georgia that has just won their league. It may seem that they are finished, but that is not true. They will most definitely be promoted to higher division, where the competition gets tougher and more tiring. This success lead to a series of problems. Some could argue that a team cannot go any further than NPL (National Premier League), but even then, other teams will move up and players do not always stay on the same team. Even in small achievements like this, the doors that are opened have something blocking the paths.        There will always be an infinite cycle of problems being created as things are achieved. This makes people more open to things and will always be able to make or do new things. Achievements are the wonderful curse to the world.
