Formative essay         Being a good student according to some university tutors is to be interested in the subject you are studying, to attend classes, make sure you ask a number of questions for more understanding and finally to prepare for these classes (Crabtree and Roberts 2007). This reflection of a good student might be criticized, approved or even know some changes from other lecturers, teachers or professors. Noting that lecturers give lectures to adults at higher educations (universities) that are often the final stage towards employment. Therefore, the aims of a lecturer comparing other tutors might differ. For example, a teacher in high school would aim to provide the necessities and important information to guide the students paths to higher educational systems. This idea can for instance occurs on me. From my personal experience, my previous tutors idea of a good student was the one who follows their instructions, do all the coursework they ask for, and finally who attends classes. This however explains their aims, which are more of short-term-passing the final exam-rather than the long-term-success in the professional life. According to Crabtree and Roberts (2007) University lecturers emphasis their efforts and aims to prepare student more for employability, while college teachers effort’s are more oriented to passing and succeeding the exams.

This difference might seem negligible, but once the student attend the transition period from lower to higher education (universities) it starts to become more obvious and more important.Moving back to the first definition of a good student, which pointed out that one of the main characteristics of a good student, is its preparation for classes. This preparation in my point of view needs a whopping amount of time, effort and a great determination. Yet students try, but most of them fail, because of the stress and tough routine it causes. Therefore, this quality –being able to prepare for the classes- is one of the toughest especially on the university scale. At first, the student needs to consider most of his time to studies, researches and readings, in other words it requires the learner to embark in his own work (Cann 2011). Secondly, The transition time is a sensible time for the newcomers, as they are meant to explore the new environment, make new friends and live the university life, which so ever needs to be aligned with their studies and their grades. To conclude, Indeed students must be free and enjoy their time at one of their most critical period of life. But this does not explain their laziness and their workless, however it should be balanced as it follows the description of a good student, and enjoying the rest of the time.Reference:Cann, R.
